Op Shop Score

I scored a real bargain while Op Shopping. This little collection cost me $2.
I have no idea what I will make with it. Into the stash it goes ...

We LOVE Pooh Bear

Brodie and I went for a walk into town and while we were out we popped in to a couple of Op Shops.
I came across all of these lovely Disney characters. Both Angus and I just adore Pooh Bear.

I just love that larger Pooh Bear on the shelf. He looked ever so soft.

I did come home with the smaller Pooh. Angus wants him but .. so do I! He looks so adorable! I may just let Angus have him.

Opp Shop Bargains

Not that I do a lot of scrapbooking or anything crafty with paper very often, I jumped at the chance to buy these paper cutters (I don't even know what the proper name is).

I adore the Pooh Bear one. It still had the original price tag on it ($31.95).
I picked the whole lot up for $5. Honestly how could you walk away from a price like that?
I have no idea when I will use them but I have added them to my craft stuff.

I am so glad that Mark asked me to go Opp Shopping with him.

Op Shop Bargain

I love shopping and finding bargains. Especially Op Shopping. The other day I nicked into one of the local op shops on a whim and came across this beautiful handbag. Well it looks more like a tote because of its size. What I liked best apart from the flowers is the fact that it is brand new and has dividers inside.

Right now I am deciding whether to use this bag or the panda bag I found a while ago. Angus of course said panda. He absolutely adores them.

Lucky Op Shop Finds

Look what I found while op shopping on Thursday morning.
I'm always on the look out for crochet patterns whilst op shopping, well patterns in general. So when I came across these books with crochet patterns in them I snapped them up.

These second two photos are a couple of examples from the book on the left.

These last two photos are examples from the book on the right.

I have no idea when I'll make anything up from these patterns but I promise to take photos.

I'm meant to be working on a blanket for Mark's Mum, Helen. I'm kind of cheating actually I'm just making some applique dogs/paws/bones etc to sew on to a fleecy blanket. I just haven't been motivated to make them yet. Helen breeds Old English Sheepdogs & I don't really have a pattern for that breed but I did print out a graph. I'm just worried it wont turn out nice. It's going to be a surprise for her when I finally get around to crocheting. She has no idea that I've got this planned. I just need some motivation to get started.

Op Shopping

Angus's chair that he uses at the desk broke the other night. That kid is really hard on furniture. In fact I've lost count of how many pieces of furniture that he or Brodie have broken over the years. So Mark & I went to one of the Op Shops in town yesterday and I found this. It looks sturdy and solid enough. I'm crossing my fingers that this chair lasts a lot longer than the last one.

Op Shop finds

Look at today's finds. I saw the teddy & immediately thought of Angus. He loves Pooh Bear.

I know I probably have enough yarn stash but I just had to buy this packet. The yarn is super soft & would be great for a baby blanket or even some chemo caps. For now it's going into my storage boxes.

Op Shopping Bargains

Before being cleaned
Mark & I went Op Shopping on Thursday morning (as well as the day before but in a different town). In one of the places I spotted a magazine rack. It was in excellent condition and just needed a clean. I showed Mark but then I said that I don't really need it as we already have places for magazines. Mark then stated that it would look great with lots of yarn in it. SOLD! He's such an enabler ♥♥

Mark found a working digital camera for $5. He said it would be great for when he is working on the bike and he can take photos so that he doesn't get his phone dirty.
All that black stuff in the photo is electrical tape. He was very happy with that find. It's a name brand of some kind and extremely sticky. It's good that he found it because he couldn't find his black tape the other day when he was working on something. Now Mark has plenty.

Ready to go ...
I must admit the magazine rack does look good now that it's all cleaned up and filled with yarn.

Op Shop Bargains

Mark, Angus and I went Op Shopping the other day. We managed to find a few bargains. I really love that bowl. I think it looks very pretty. I was going to use it for a cereal/dessert bowl but Brodie suggested I use it as a yarn bowl. I'm not sure the yarn will stay in the bowl but it's worth a try.

I also found a purple glass bottle. I'm going to use that for the bedroom to keep water in for those times during the night when you need a drink but can't be bothered getting out of bed.

The little blue box is a Maths set with a compass, protractors, ruler and sharpener in it. I have no idea who will end up using it but it's there just in case.

The material, well I got that because it was only 50 cents. It's going to be added to my material stash. I am sure that I will find just the right project for it somewhere down the track.

Mark found a camping kit with bowl and plate. Mark wants to add to his camping gear. He loved camping so much last week that he is thinking of going again.

I'm thinking I might visit the op shops in the next town over from us this week. I just love rummaging through all the stuff they have. You just never know what you may find.

Out & About

Mark, Brodie and I went out Op Shopping this morning. We managed to get some bargains. I got a new ball of crochet cotton and Mark found some attachments for his camera.
The best thing about going out today was buying our lunch from a Chinese restaurant. I wont need to cook dinner now. The photo above was my lunch. Pork and vegetables. Yum!
Even Angus got to have lunch out today. He's at TAFE on Wednesdays and I always give him some money to buy lunch. He was talking about getting McDonalds. Looks like it will be an easy tea tonight where everyone can 'catch' their own meal (~_~) I love days like that.

I Love Finding Bargains

I love finding bargains when I go shopping don't you?
I've found some great deals this past week!

I think someone in the supermarket goofed when they typed in the weight.

I'm sure it was really meant to cost around $10.
Mark & I went Op Shopping on Wednesday and found these two items.

We've had the jars for ages now we have some lids. I just need to work out what we will end up preserving...

Pyrex is never cheap to buy new
Brodz & I went shopping yesterday after I had to take him into Traralgon to sign some exit forms for that TAFE course he quit *sigh* I thought I would at least get something useful done out of our 140+ km (87 miles) round trip.

I bought these for me. I usually forget to get something for myself.

I found these blouses in Kmart. Not bad considering I went in there to look for a pair of slippers and a nightie. I never bought either of those. I also bought 4 more t-shirts for Mark & the boys. I was surprised when the total for all of them was less than $50.

Op Shop Bargains!

Mark & I went Op Shopping yesterday. We didn't go looking for anything in particular. We just wanted to browse. We decided to go to the next town over from us because it had been a while since we had been to any of the Op Shops there.

I like the pattern on the wood. Brodie said it reminds him of a peacock.

I am so pleased that we went. I found an absolute bargain! Some new chairs. For some reason we are not very gentle with chairs and have gone though quite a few of them (o_0) Personally I think its because the boys don't sit on the chairs they plonk themselves on them.

I think they will be perfect after a bit of a clean up. The seats are a bit on the dusty side but they look very sturdy and hopefully up to the challenge of 'surviving' my boys!

Where's The Nearest Exit?

Look what Mark found when we went Op Shopping last week but guess who had to pay for it? :P
Stop I want to get off! Well that's how I have felt sometimes. Times where you just want to find the nearest exit and hit the ground running! Thankfully I haven't thought that way for a while now. Oh gosh I hope I haven't jinxed myself :-/ I'm sure I haven't but you never know....

Op Shop Bargains

I went Op Shopping with Mark the other day. In fact we've gone a couple of times this week. In our town and the next one over from us.

How cool is this marble lazy susan? It was practically a steal.
I found some lovely plates too but I forgot to take a photo of them :(  They have these pretty flowers around the edge.

Brodie modelling his safety gear. I don't know if he looks good or scary.
Mark found some safety gear for Brodie to wear while he rides his scooter. This stuff is ridiculously expensive when its brand new. So when Mark found it in one of the op shops he took Brodie there to try it on to see if it would fit. It was an absolute bargain! All Brodie needs to do is get his helmet, sit for his learners and do the riding course & he'll be able to go out on his scooter. It's a bit of a scary thought but I know that it will happen eventually.

We Found Some Bargains

Mark, Brodie & I went shopping for fun on yesterday afternoon. Harris Scarfe had a sale on and VIP customers (that would be me) who have a store card could purchase items at highly discounted prices (up to 70% off in some cases depending on what you chose) before the June clearance sale started today & if I showed this letter that I received I would get a further 10-20% off.

I wanted to get a new slow cooker as my one had a slight crack starting in the bottom and I didn't want to keep using it too much just in case it broke. I LOVE using my slow cooker!

We went into a couple of Op Shops on the way to Harris Scarfe. One of the shops had the insert for my slow cooker sitting on the shelf just begging for me to buy it. How odd is that? You never really see anything slow cooker related in second hand shops but there it was. Thank you Mark for spotting it & pointing it out :) Sometimes there is a good reason to take Mark shopping.

Here's my NEW slow cooker. It's about 6 litres in size. That's around twice the size of the old one. I used to run out of room with that one but I wont any more.

I love how it came with a recipe book. The instruction book also tells you how to adapt recipes. I am sure that my old cooker had the same sort of thing it is book but I lost that somewhere between the caravan park and this place when we moved. I am sure if I really look for it I might find it.

I suppose you are wondering why I even bought a new slow cooker since I bought the new insert for the old one. I'm giving the old one to Mark's brother. It's not like we really need to have two of them.

Nice and shiny huh. So it can show off ALL of our fingerprints :P

Mark is a coffee addict who now refuses to drink instant coffee. I blame his brother for this, not in a bad way though, but that being said, he did NOT drink coffee until his brother reintroduced it to him. Mark spotted this coffee maker in Harris Scarfe.

He was going to buy one of those little stove top ones like he already uses at home. Me being the softy that I am (plus the fact that Mark makes nearly all the payments on the store card) just smiled and thought that since I was getting a new slow cooker it wouldn't hurt for him to have a coffee maker.

Of course sitting right next to the coffee makers were the coffee grinders. Which as you can see we bought. While Mark was looking at the coffee stuff I went exploring ....

I found some new plates and bowls on the 'super' discounted table. I thought that they would look really nice on my cooking blog. Instead of me using the blue willow plates ALL the time (or the plastic ones that somehow seem to jump into the photos).

They look so pretty. I was trying to get all the sticker off before I took photos of them but they can really be stubborn to remove some times! I gave up and put them in the sink. Maybe the stickers will come off when I wash them later.

One of the stickers on this bowl said it was hand painted. I just like the earthy colours.

The last thing I spotted on the discount table was this cute little teapot. I don't use teapots very often but it looks so pretty & it was as cheap as any of the ones I looked at in the second hand shops.

I also bought some new pillows but I didn't think you'd be interested in photos of them. Who likes looking at boring old pillows any way?

Considering everything that we got I was pleasantly surprised when it was all added up at the cash register. Even Mark liked the idea on how much it cost or should I say on how little it really cost. All of this (except the op shop purchase) was less than the original price on the coffee maker! You've got to love a bargain or two or three ...

My Op Shop Loot

With all the fun that's been happening with Blogger these past few days (and I mean that loosely) it seems that I have lost a post. Some people have lost more so I guess I truly shouldn't complain. I wont repost it though.

I felt so lost yesterday being unable to create a new post. I was actually organised and had taken photos and everything. So... here's what I wanted to share with you yesterday.

This is one of the bargains I found when I went Op Shopping on Thursday. I was flicking through it and came across some patterns that I thought looked like they might be a good challenge. Considering it only cost $1 I couldn't pass it up.

The pictures on the left are loads of patterns for men's, women's and kids clothing. Some of them look great while others are so 70's/80's looking that I don't know if I would ever consider making them. Not unless there was a fancy dress or something to go to.

It even shows you how to design your own patterns. I don't know if I will ever feel that confident to create my own patterns but at least this should help if I ever do finally attempt it.

I'm crossing my fingers that there are NO more dramas with blogger and that I don't lose any more posts. I have enough drama at home without having dramas online :P

Buttons

I went Op Shopping the other day. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but I though I would check out what sorts of crafty things they might have. I managed to find a couple of crochet hooks for 50 cents each. I think I had those sizes but at 50c a piece I had to get them, after all who really passes up a bargain? Hooks are around $3 or more brand new. Plus Angus could add them to his collection if he didn't already have those sizes (not that he is making anything these days but he does know how to make granny squares and beanies).

I also found these buttons. I have no idea what to use them for but they look nice. I would love to know what the coats of arms mean. Do you ever find something that looks interesting and wonder about its history? Some things just make you curious don't they.

Op Shopping

Mark & I did the rounds of the Op Shops in town today. I love looking around & finding stuff that's old or just getting a bargain. We found a few bargains today.

I found a stack of knitting/crochet cotton & was going to only get one or two of the balls. Mark said at that price you may as well get ALL of them. So I walked away with 4 unopened packets! I love it when he enables me & my hobbies! Just like the time when we were in Spotlight & there was this nice Christmas fabric on sale for $1 per metre so he said buy 10 metres! You gotta LOVE that! Not many people can say their other half encourages them to increase their craft stash!

The bargain of today has to be the guitar case! Brodie will LOVE it (unless we give it to Angus). Not all of the clasps close but that's not a major problem. I am sure that Mark will come up with something to fix it (or even replace them). I know that hard covered guitar cases aren't cheap so this was something we could not pass up at only $10.

It doesn't look too bad does it?
