Finished Item - Crochet - Teddy Bear

I just finished another toy bear for Operation Christmas Child.
You can check out the details for the pattern on a previous post. Although for some reason this looks very different to the previous bear I made.

Finished Item - Crochet Toy

Hopefully this teddy looking toy will be added to an Operation Christmas Child box.

I didn't use a pattern. I just made some squares, circles and rectangles and assembled them into a toy.

I am sure some child will love it. Well, I hope they will.

Finished Item - Knitted - Toy Duck

I decided to use what scraps I had left from one of my Ice Yarn Magic Light balls. Considering the colour changes I believe it makes this duck very unique.

I shall be taking the duck to the Knit and Natter group I go to so that it can be added to one of the boxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Now on to my next project...

Geek Moment: Doctor Who Miniatures

I added to my miniature Doctor Who collection over the weekend from one of those machines that are coin operated and dispense a toy at random. Luckily me, I now have the 10th and 11th Doctors.

I have managed to lose the Weeping Angel I had. It seems that Missy Issy liked the container she was in and the angel has disappeared! At least I still have the baby Adipose.

The Angels Have The Phone Box

I have a couple of new Doctor Who toys.
I got them out of one of those toy dispensers, like the gum ball machines, where you put in some money and turn the dial so that the toy comes down a chute.

Brodie was very lucky and got a K-9 toy. I was hoping to get that one myself. Maybe next time..

We LOVE Pooh Bear

Brodie and I went for a walk into town and while we were out we popped in to a couple of Op Shops.
I came across all of these lovely Disney characters. Both Angus and I just adore Pooh Bear.

I just love that larger Pooh Bear on the shelf. He looked ever so soft.

I did come home with the smaller Pooh. Angus wants him but .. so do I! He looks so adorable! I may just let Angus have him.

WIP - Knitted Toy Pirate

Angus requested that I knit a toy pirate from one of my Jean Greenhowe books.

With all of the stuff that's been going on at home with days out taking Brodie to meetings, going shopping & installing my computer it hasn't left a lot of time to knit at the moment.

I've sewn the body of the Pirate (while watching Star Trek: The Next Generation - I love that show) & now need to stuff it.

Finished Object - Maid Marion

I have just finished making a Maid Marion doll from the Jean Greenhowe patterns. She looks really good (but I am biased) and was a bit fiddly to make.

Maid Marion

I cheated with the sash around her waist. The pattern called for a twisted cord but I crocheted a couple of chains and twisted them together before I sewed them on.

Maid Marion & Robin Hood

I will be posting them off to Kym, my nephew, next week so that he can give them to his daughters. Now that I have finished Marion I have no clue what to make next. Do you have any suggestions?

Finished Object - Robin Hood

*Looks at clock* I almost forgot today's post but I think I'll just make it. It's not midnight yet :D

I finished that Robin Hood toy yesterday.
Brodie likes it that much that he wants a Robin Hood of his own (o_0) Personally I think he may be a tad too old to have a new soft toy but he really likes the idea.

Anyway I think Robin looks pretty good. I started making Maid Marion tonight.
Hopefully it wont take too long to finish her. Although my hands seem to be a bit on the achy side at the moment so who knows.

I'm off to try and see if there's a break in the clouds. There's a total lunar eclipse tonight & I would love to see it. I don't like my chances though as its been overcast since this afternoon and its been raining too. Looks like I may have to wait to see photos on the web or on the news tomorrow night.

WIP - Robin Hood

For the past few days I have been knitting a toy Robin Hood from a Jean Greenhowe pattern.

Robin Hood
I like how I get to make the boots/legs first then join them together to make the rest of the body & head. It's so much easier than one of Jeans other patterns where you make the legs & feet separately and sew them together later. Hmm maybe I can adapt the other pattern I have & make them in one piece. Something wroth trying later I guess.

I'm stuffed!
I don't think I added enough toy filling. Only time will tell when I make the bottom half of the jacket.

A different angle
Robin is meant to be around 31cm tall (around 12 inches).
I haven't measured him but that's what the pattern said.

Robin has his face on now but he is totally armless :P
You if I made this with black pants, a light blue shirt, dark brown or black hair and pointy ears he could almost pass for Mr. Spock. Of course I would have to add eyebrows and remove the smile.
Now how geeky is that? I LOVE my Star Trek.
I think I know someone who would love a Spock toy apart from me that is :D

Work In Progress - Hedgehog (Part 3)

Just a warning this post has a lot of photos. It may take a while to load.

You might notice some colour differences. The paler looking photos were taken with my phone. The brighter looking ones were done with my camera. The colours in those ones look more realistic.

I love how the hat turned out!

How about the curls on the side of his head? Pretty cool huh!

Even the bow on the back of his hair looks cute but I am biased :D

Off with his head!

With the hat finally sew in place.

You can see why I was reluctant about sewing his little arms on. They don't seem to sit right :( well one of the arms doesn't.

Here's a view from the top. I really do like the hat. It kind of reminds me of a pirates hat.

At least the hedgehog looks good from behind.

How about the side view?

I still have the bell to make & the Town Crier is finished, although I don't wish to make the bell. He still looks good without it. To be honest I am glad that this hedgehog is just about done. I like making the Jean Greenhowe toys but I seriously want to make something that wont take quite so long to create. Perhaps I can whip up some fingerless gloves for Angus in one of his school colours. I am so ready to pick up a crochet hook & put down the needles for a while.

Work In Progress - Hedgehog (Part 2)

I thought I would give you an update on the cute little hedgehog that I've been making. I took a break last night. I thought it would be a good idea to give my hands a rest. Sometimes working through the pain of carpal tunnel is a good thing but there are times when I think a rest is in order. Plus I thought that since I am not making this for anyone in particular there was no need to rush :)

I have made the arms & tried sewing them on but I didn't line them up right so I needed to unpick them. I haven't sewn the head on either. I just plopped it on top of the body for the photos but it kept falling off and rolling onto the floor.

I love how the buckles turned out on the shoes. I placed some really thick cardboard in the bottom of the shoes. It makes it so much easier for the toys to stand up that way. I think I am slowing hoarding more and more cardboard for these Jean Greenhowe toys.
Speaking of Jean she has some more free patterns up on here web site. Click HERE if you would like to check them out.

At least he looks like a happy hedgehog with that smiley mouth :D

I don't have any plans for this afternoon so I might get some more knitting done.

Work In Progress - Hedgehog (Part 1)

Oh no its a headless hedgehog!

Even though the hedgehog isn't anywhere near being finished I think it looks good so far. That brown stuff on its head is its hair.
I am making the Town Crier (a Jean Greenhowe pattern). You can see what the finished toy will look like if you go here.

I have no idea what I am going to do with it when I am finished. I'll probably shove it in a plastic bag for storage until I work out where its new home will be.

Mini Birds

I made a couple of mini Angry Birds today. I'm not too sure that I am that fond of the yellow one but Angus loved it & the little red one too.
He wasn't feeling too happy when he got home after school today [friend troubles] so I let him have them in the hope that it would cheer him up a little. Which it has a bit.

Mark now wants me to make him an Android robot toy. So I am giving that a go. I'm not sure how it will turn out but it will be based on the picture below.

An Angry Bird

Well I went & did it I have made an angry bird. I think the eyebrows set it off. At least you can get an idea of its size with the soft drink can behind it.

The photo I took doesn't show how yellow the bird really is. It's much brighter like the duck I made a few weeks back.

So what do you think?

Look At What I Made

I have to brag but I made this without a pattern =)
I took the photo with my phone but it doesn't show the colours very well. Its bottle green with orange.

Ta Da! Daisy Is Finished!

I am biased but I think Daisy is adorable!!

Work In Progress

Meet Daisy Dragon. I haven't finished sewing her up yet. It's taken most of today to get her to look right. I still have her legs and wings to attach. Then I can make up her face. What do you think of her so far?

Hugo the Hippo

Meet Hugo the Hippo.
He's the latest toy I have made. Hugo is also going into the box for K4C.
That's if I can convince Angus to leave him in the box.
