I'm A Not So Creative Hooker

I haven't picked up my crochet hook for a few days and that is NOT like me at all! To be honest my right arm is not playing nicely when it comes to doing certain things. I've needed to wear my wrist brace more and more frequently of late. So perhaps it's a good thing that I have had a break from crocheting. Stupid carpal tunnel.

I have however been checking out some really neat stuff on pinterest. I am in awe at how creative some people are they are truly amazing. I have also been looking on etsy at some really talented crochet items in a shop called skymagenta. That is one talented crocheter! 

Friends

I came across this picture on Facebook and I just had to share it. Friendship is very important. I only have a very small group of friends, hubby♥ included  but they mean the world to me.

♥ My dearest friend, Mish,♥ whom I have known for almost 40 years (before we were born)  has been my bestie since we met in Grade 3. Right through High School and even on to College.

I have quite a few online friends whom I have never met but they have also become very special to me. I love hearing from them on Facebook and reading their posts. I miss them a great deal when they aren't online. ♥ I miss you Traci! ♥

I believe that friendship is a truly special thing. Something to be cherished and nurtured.

Thankful Thursday

Here's what I am thankful for this week:

• cool breezes at night after a warm day
• air-conditioning ~ it's meant to be a stinker today, around 39C (over 100F) so my air-con will be on later when it warms up
• being able to get my Patriarchal Blessing this evening. I'm nervous and excited all at once.
• cool changes ~ I am hoping the one we are due to get will bring some lovely cool weather. I truly dislike the heat
• reading ~ I love how you can lose yourself in a story ☺

Lost In Austen

Lost in Austen

My girlfriend, Mish, recommended a DVD for me to watch. She knows how much I love to read and watch movies that are historical fiction.

This DVD was a short TV series in the UK called Lost in Austen. It's based on the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.  Amanda Price is from present day UK and she is obsessed with the book. Amanda and Elizabeth Bennet ( the main female character from the novel) end up trading places. The series follows what happens with Amanda and all the disasters that seem to follow her.

I've only watched the first two episodes so far and it's not a bad show. I love Alex Kingston, who plays Elizabeth's mother, and Hugh Bonneville, who plays Elizabeth's father.

Poor Amanda, she just seems to be digging a big hole for herself as she tried to make things right now that Elizabeth isn't on the scene. I can't wait to see what happens in the final two episodes.

Pretty In Pink

I bought myself a pretty pink triangular scarf on ebay a few weeks ago. It was a bargain, costing a little over $3 and postage was free. Since the postage was free I assume that my parcel was travelling via boat because it took almost three weeks to get here. Not that I am complaining. My scarf is so pretty. I'm thinking it would jazz up any outfit for Church. I'm just hoping that next time we go that the weather will be nice enough for me to wear it without getting too hot.

WIP - Crocheted Garter

I ended up pulling apart the edging around the garter that I had made. It made it look horrible and way too chunky for my liking. I ended up just adding a small loop made up of three chains. All I need to do now is buy some ribbon.
