The Cat Trap Works

It's nto really a cat trap. We've received a few parcels recently that have arrived in boxes.
Any box that is placed on the floor seems to attract Issy! Hence my saying the cat trap works.

I Love My Fluffy Cat

Missy Issy loves to lay in all sorts of places.
She is certainly value for money as far as entertainment is concerned.

My lap warmer! A very welcoming thing on these chilly nights.

I do believe Issy is smiling in this one. She is surrounded by my temperature blanket as I was crocheting. I had to place the blanket in such a way that she wouldn't be disturbed.

On the exercise ball. Issy was waiting for me to sit down so she could lay on my lap.

She found Angus's lap!

Unintentional Cat Trap

Missy Issy got busted on the table. Well, technically she wasn't on the table she was in a box that just happened to be on the table. She was found there asleep in the early hours of the morning the other day. Only thing is we don't let our cats go on to any surfaces where we have food ie: kitchen benches and the table.

She's a cheeky thing that's for sure. It's just as well I love her! My little naughty tortie!

Meet Issy My New Baby Girl

Mark could see how awfully sad I was with losing Trip. In fact I felt so bad I just didn't have the energy to do anything. I didn't even want to go shopping for fun, which is something I would usually jump at the chance to do.

Mark pretty much put his foot down and made me go out on Friday. He wanted to take me to the RSPCA to just look at kitties. In fact there were 32 at the shelter when we looked on the website. Looking online is one thing, Driving there was something totally different. Plus it was an hour away.

Reluctantly I got in the car with Mark & Brodie, Angus wanted to remain at home, and we drove to Pearcedale, our closest RSPCA.

Just looking at all the cats did make me feel better. With all these gorgeous kitties being so happy that someone was coming to look at them, talk with them and pat them through the fences made most of them happy, vocal and affectionate.

There were three or four that I liked the look of. Who came up to me. Kissed or licked my hand. But this little one, Issy, came out of her basket for me. Just for me. She just looked at Mark and Brodie but moved for me. Even one of the handlers said she hadn't seen her out of her basket.

OMGosh she is just so affectionate. With lots of head butts and smooching. She won me over. She now has a new forever home.

She isn't too sure of C.K. yet. In fact she growled big time at him. I think C.K. is a bit scared of her at the moment. I also think his nose is a bit out of joint as we have closed of the other end of the house where all the bedrooms are. It's Issy's domain for now.

I still feel bad that we had to put Trip down but as Mark has said to me getting a new cat will help me to focus on something else. He's right it does but I still miss Trip like crazy.

Silly Old Cat

Our Trippy cat is a bit senile these days. He does some really unusual things of late such as sleeping on the roof of Mark's shed in the middle of winter. I suppose we could forgive his eccentricities considering he is around 12 years old now.

Dirty Old Cat

Trip (on the left) and C.K. (on the right) snoozing on the bed the other day.

Our three-legged cat, Trip, has been through the wars over the years. The other day he had been chased by two young dogs into our backyard. When I opened the door to let him in he bolted into our bedroom. I went to check him out to see if he had possibly lost another one of his nine lives. Thankfully, he let me pick him up and lay him on the be so that I could feel him all over, rub him down and check for any damage. Everything was all good. I let him stay on the bed. He stayed there apart from leaving the room for food that's pretty much the only place he was for the rest of the day.

Once Trip went out later that evening he disappeared until the next morning when he wanted indoors for another feed. As soon has he had eaten he jumped back on the bed and stayed there all day, apart from getting off the bed to go and eat, until I went to bed around midnight. He, either in his old age or his laziness because it's winter and cold outside, had moved to another part of the bed to piddled and then moved back to his 'warm' spot that he had been laying in all day. Of course I didn't know this had happened until I sat on the bed. Gosh I could've smacked the little rascal.

There Mark & I were at just after midnight stripping the bed, changing the sheets and trying to work out what we could possibly use to keep us warm because the quilt had been soiled too. Thankfully the quilt and the electric blanket, which is now just used as a mattress protector, kept the mattress from being soiled too. I am so glad that we had sleeping bags that could be unzipped and used on the bed along with an old single bed quilt plus a pretty crocheted blanket I had made.

I had wanted to give all the bedding a good wash but not like this and not during these cold winter days. Thank goodness the weather has been sunny and I've been able to hang out the washing on the line. I just hope that everything will dry before bedtime otherwise it's another night with the sleeping bag, which was surprisingly quite warm. Cross your fingers for me that the weather doesn't turn cold and rainy.

Thirsty Cat

Mark spotted C.K. having a drink from the fish pond. I had to take a photo of him. He was totally ignoring the fish and was busy just having a drink.

RIP Bubbalou

We had a phone call from the vet about an hour ago. Someone had taken our Rory in. He had been attacked by a dog.
Mark & I went straight to the vets to see how bad things were. The poor thing had so much damage done to him. The vet was not very hopeful at all and said that it would be touch and go. That she would try to save him if she could. Rory was unable to move his back legs and his breathing was very laboured even though they had an oxygen mask on him he was still gasping for breath. The vet said it was like he had been picked up and shaken. Rather than have him suffer Mark said to put him down.
Of course I am a total wreck. My poor baby Rory. He wasn't even 11 months old yet. No more lovely (and dying) flowers and leaves will be left on the floor. No more snuggles under the covers with me. My poor Rory. He was such a cutie.

Shhh I'm Hunting Wabbits ..

Rory's collection of leaves this morning
Rory has been hunting again. His collection slowed down over the weekend. I was thinking it was because we weren't home but I have now come to realise that his hunting skills improve when he is hungry. It's just after 10am and Rory wants some morning tea! I guess he didn't get enough food for his breakfast this morning. I wish this kitty would eat the dry food like the other cats do but nope he prefers tins or pouches the little ratbag!

The Catch Of The Day

Yesterdays morning haul of leaves.

Last week I mentioned how Rory has been hunting and bringing in his catch for me to see. I believe for some strange reason he wants to get some loving and praise from me. He is VERY vocal when he comes inside with his prize. There's a certain miaow that he does when he as something to share. Maybe its because he has a mouthful of leaves and is unable to do his normal quiet miaow.

The catch of the day

Rory is truly my cat. He knows exactly what to bring his mama. Flowers. Dead and decaying but they are still flowers. That's my boy!!

Totally pooped

It's been a hard day "hunting" those poor defenseless leaves. They never stood a chance with this ferocious hunter! Rory has earned an afternoon nap!

Weird Kitty

C.K. chilling on the bed

There's a standing joke at our place about how well the cats would feed us if we had to eat them as dim sims (dim sims are an Aussie invention based on Chinese dumplings) or as a meal in general. Sad I know but it's just in fun. We would never EVER under any circumstances hurt our cats. We just love them way too much for that.

Our cats are such fuss pots when it comes to eating that I feel they eat better than we do most days. C.K. has developed an unusual taste for soy sauce. When Mark has noodles and takes the bowl to the shed he often leaves the bowl on the desk when he's finished. C.K. has decided that he is going to lick the bowl. My guess is he is self-marinating. Yep I know roll your eyes but you have to see the funny side of things, right?

Naughty Kitty

Don't you look so sweet and innocent?!
My sweet kitty, Rory, was a very naughty boy this morning. At around 7:30 am he had caught a bird and brought it inside to show me what he had done. We had feathers everywhere. The poor bird however was too hurt to be saved :(

So much for the bell on the collar that Rory wears. It obviously didn't scare the bird away in time. Rory you can catch the mice and the bugs but leave the birdies alone, ok?

A Tight Squeeze

Cats really do sleep anywhere don't they?!
This is our C.K. He had stuffed himself into a gap in one of Mark's tool boxes.

I don't think C.K. was terribly impressed with me taking his photo. He looked a tad grumpy.

Going Fishing

Guess who finally discovered the pond out in the back yard?
Even better he discovered that there were FISH in it!

Rory was even sticking his paws in the water.
I guess he isn't afraid to get wet!

He really enjoys his time outside.

Cats Can Be Such A Worry Sometimes

Our boy Trip

Our three-legged cat, Trip, has a sore leg. It's his front right leg and his joints look all swollen. The poor thing. We were so worried about him that we took him to the vets yesterday. It just happens to be the same leg that he was shot in a few years ago. Some nasty person in town used some sore of air rifle and hit him. He had to have his leg pinned back then.

Mark & I were concerned that he had to have something similar done this time around. Only trouble was we don't really have the funds to get him fixed. Good news is that it was a big abscess. It's already burst and had drained. What a relief that was to hear that it wasn't broken. Trippy was such a good cat while we were at the vets. He didn't complain when the vet gave him an injection full of antibiotics (so much easier than trying to give him tablets). Thank goodness it was nothing too serious.

This video was shared on facebook and I just had to share it.

My Naughty Little Ginger Snap

My little ginger snap had an operation on Thursday. We were being the responsible owners and getting him desexed or as the girl who booked him in said he was being castrated *eek*

When we picked him up Thursday afternoon the Vet said he may still be a bit groggy from the anaesthetic and don't expect him to be very playful or hungry for that matter. Keep him indoors for a day or so and then he's good to go outside.

Oh boy they do NOT know our Rory very well. When we got him home and opened the carry cage in the lounge room he ran straight down the other end of the house where we keep the cat food and he dove straight into the dry crunchies! This is a cat that will only eat them under sufferance and only when there is nothing else to eat. Of course we had to give him some of his favourite food which is anything that comes in a cat food tin! He truly isn't that fussy when it comes to canned food. You give it to him and he will eat it. Unlike our other cats who will happily screw their noses up at certain tins.

Later on after we had dinner and we were all off doing our own things I busted Rory rummaging through the rubbish bin seeing what food scraps he could manage to steal. He was possibly looking for the bones from the pork chops we had for tea. So much for the Vet saying Rory may not wish to eat or play. He was back to his old mischievous self! The little rascal! I love him to bits but boy is he a handful!

Hasn't He Grown!

I don't know if you remember some of the photos I shared of Rory when we first got him. The one above shows what he was like then he fell asleep on the desk. He was soooo cute and soooo small. Not any more .... well he still is cute but he certainly isn't small!

Rory is now 5 and a half months old now. He's such a little rascal too. Chasing anything that moves. Trying to open sliding doors and sometimes succeeding.

I don't know what he has done to C.K. but they just don't get along any more. C.K. acts like a grumpy old man every time he sees Rory. He spits and hisses and carries on something shocking. Perhaps when we get Rory desexed things will improve. At least I am hoping it does.

My FurBabies

It's been a while since I showed off my furbabies. I was going through some photos on my camera and I just had to share them. I mean these cats are just so adorable how could I keep the photos to myself :D

Trip - is Mr. Grumpy! He has a total dislike for Rory & refuses to be around him.

I caught Rory & CK asleep on the bed. I swear it looks like Rory is smiling!

My gorgeous gingers!

How cute is this?

Busy watching me watching him!

My Two Gingernuts

CK and Rory
My two Gingernuts look so cute together. They are finally getting along nicely. Sometimes they even sleep together on the bed.

All I need now is for our three-legged boy, Trip, to finally accept Rory and things will be better. Trip is such a nasty, hissy thing right now. He wont even stay indoors if he sees the kitten (o_0) Trip only wants in for a feed then tries to get outside again. I think of Trip as a grumpy old man (he's just turned 10 yo)

Does anyone have any tips on how to get the cats to at least stay in the same room?

My Kitty Likes Watching TV

It seems that I have a little kitty who likes to watch television.

Watching an Elvis movie while sitting on my desk.

Rory liked the dancing. I think the movement had him mesmerised.

Saqqara was the same. She would sit in front of the TV when Angus was watching Garfield. Maybe she thought Garfield was her type of cat :D
