Friendship

I was reading a post over at Mummy Mayhem which revolved around friendship & it got me thinking about my friends. Not that I have that many. In fact I don't have any that live close to where I live. I'm not complaining or anything but some times I do wish that I had a female friend that lived nearby that I could visit for the occasional cuppa & a chat but that ain't gonna happen any time soon.

As I said the post got me thinking about friends. I would be lucky to say that I had maybe a half a dozen close friends. Maybe even less really if I think about it. But the two that always pop into my head when I think of friends are Madtrekkie* & Diva* There's hardly a day that goes by that I don't think of them. The Spirit Sisters that I was destined to meet.

Madtrekkie & I have been friends since Primary School. We met when we were in Grade 3 (& we were gleams in our Daddy's eyes - well I'd like to think that). We went to the same High School and eventually to the same College. Once school was over, before the average person got a computer, we used to write to each other all the time. Thank goodness there was the old snail mail to keep us in touch with one another. I used to love receiving a letter in the post from Madtrekkie.
Now we keep in contact via email & facebook. How things have changed since we first met. I ♥ Madtrekkie!!

Now Auntie Diva (as the boys call her) is one special, lovable Spirit Sister. I truly believe we were destined to meet one another. Now we have never met in person (at least not yet but maybe one day) and that's okay. The way we can talk with one another I don't think that it matters that we have never met face to face. I feel just as close to my Diva as if she was one of my 'real' sisters if not closer. We talk more to one another than my actual sisters & I talk. A little sad really but they are busy with their own lives.
I am so grateful that both Diva & I have psoriasis (P). If it wasn't for that fact I don't think we would've ever met one another online in a support group. Having P has been a blessing in so many ways & a curse in others.

Diva & I may not share the same type of history that Madtrekkie & I do but I love ♥ her just as much. They are both there for me when I truly need someone to talk to or to even have a little whinge with.

There truly is nothing like having a couple of really good girlfriends. Even if neither of them live near me they are there no matter what. I ♥ ♥ ♥ my girlfriends

*Not their real names, affectionate nicknames.

Poem - A Good Read

Another poem from Lisa via email through the Knit4Charities group. Thanks again Lisa. I think this one really sums me up quite well.

A Good Read.
It started out so innocently,
My small pattern collection.
How it ended up so large,
I have no recollection.

First I needed some for babes,
Then toddlers and their toys
Then I needed some for men,
As well as girls and boys.

Then there were the doilies,
Tea cosies, socks and mittens.
Then there were the New Age books
With these patterns I was smitten.

All these patterns were such fun.
Then I thought, just one for me,
Then my conscience grew a bit
So I collected for charity.

I have so many pattern books
They really are my obsession.
So when I'm gone- don't get a shock,
You've heard my true confession.

You're welcome to come and have a browse.
I could stand as Auxiliary
To the only place you'd find more booksAnd that's The State Library.

Tink, Tink, Tink!

I just love the poems that are shared in the knit4charities group that I belong to. Here's one that was sent in today. Thanks Lisa for sending it in.
If you are handy with a hook, knitting needles or even a sewing machine & would like to donate some things for the needy please join the K4C yahoo group. This group is based in Australia but we do have some overseas members who love to donate in their local area. Plus the members are super-friendly & very helpful.

Tink, Tink, Tink!

Very carefully, stitch by stitch
I'm tinking and I'm tinking
Yes thats knitting backwards
I guess I wasn't thinking.

I could have frogged, thats ripped it,
Off needles and just pull.
Then sit for ages patiently,
Rewinding all that wool.

Those fancy yarns are fanciful
And all the rage you know.
But the stitches are so hard to see,
So one by one, back I go.

I finally get to the trouble spot
Relieved I've reached the place.
Now start again, I must slow down,
Its knitting.... not a race.

Nekkid Me!

Not that I am one for wearing make-up. In fact I hardly ever wear it and when I do my kids think I look funny. But golly gosh I didn't think I looked that tired & old until I took a couple of photos just now. Man oh man I need to start wearing make-up more often lol
Now you know what I look like. Kind of scary.
Thanks for convincing me to take part Trish

Bloggers all over the globe are going make-up free today & sharing their photos with you.
This was inspired by Jodie over at Mummy Mayhem.

"The K-nitting Song - Fraggle Rock"

It's neat and it's sweet.
It's a ding dong treat,
Knittin' socks for little feet.
Just sittin' with your knittin' all day long.

You know, knittin's friendly,
And knittin's fun.
Knittin's good for everyone,
And that is why we sing this knittin' song.

Well it's knit one pearl two.
What's a Doozer gonna do,
With a gol-darn,
Ball of yarn?
It's stitch three drop four.
Pitch that knittin' out the door right now.

There's a green, there's a red.
There's a knot in my thread.
A knitter needs his noggin read,
So don't come 'round and speak to me of yarn.

You can k-nit all day and k-nothin' fits.
'Cause only k-nitwits like to k-nit,
And k-nittin' k-needles just ain't worth a darn.

Well it's knit one pearl two.
What's a Doozer gonna do,
With a gol-darn,
Ball of yarn?
It's stitch three drop four.
Pitch that knittin' out the door right now.

My New Stash

Angus & I went shopping in Spotlight today. They had 25% off all wool, yarns & accessories. I didn't spend quite as much money as I expected too but I'm really happy with what I bought.

We also went to Big W and bought a few skeins there too. Hey when you have the urge to add to you stash of wool why stop at one store?

I also got a new pattern book with some really cute toys & other small things to make. It looks like a great (and possibly quick) way to use up some of the scraps I have left over.
