Day 5 - 30 Day Meme

Day 5 – A photo of yourself two years ago.

That was hard going to find a picture of me from two years ago. It seems that I was extremely camera shy in 2008. The only picture I could find was from January 2007. Gosh my hair was super-shiny that day!
So here I am with my baby girl Saqqara. Sadly she is no longer with us. I miss my baby girl *sniff*

Checking The Washing

I took these photos a short time ago of Saqarra checking out our clothes airer in the lounge room. It's the first time we've used the clothes airer in ages and the first time Saqarra has 'checked' it out. It looked rather funny because as she was moving on the airer she was making the clothes move. As the clothes moved she was trying to catch them.

I love cats!

Desk Warmers

I have two desk warmers! They think they are so cute sitting on the desk where my monitors are. There's been a few times when they just lay right on top of the keyboard making things beep and buzz, opening new windows or closing them, adding bookmarks, etc. Oh and the fact that I am typing away at the keyboard doesn't phase them either. If they want to lie down on the desk they don't care that your arms are in the way they will lie right on top of you!! I have to admit they do look cute though. I love my cats!!
Oh and they must think Mummy's side of the desk is better than Daddy's because they tend to lie where I sit. I think they like the warmth from the down lights too as it can get quite warm.

After I Mopped The Floor .. .. ..

Saqarra can be such a strange cat. Without fail after I have mopped the floors with a mild solution of hot water and bleach she will rub up and down the floors. Rolling all over the place to get covered in the diluted bleach/water mix. Totally strange! Of all the cats I have had and of all the cats I have known she is the only one that has done it. I wonder if it has anything to do with her being part ragdoll. Totally weird!!

The Cat Sleeping Bag

I finally got some photos off of my camera and I thought I would begin posting them over the next few days. It should help me begin to post more frequently (or not lol). This picture is of Saqarra. She's using my craft bag as a sleeping bag. I don't think I'll ever be getting this bag back again .. not unless I take it off the floor completely!! She does look rather cute in it though.

Cuddles With Saqarra

Goodness what a week it's been. I am so glad that today was relatively normal. Well at least as normal as things can be for our family.

Yesterday my cat, Saqarra, (who thinks she is a dog by the way) decided that she wanted to spend some time with me. Now she is part ragdoll which makes her one of the most beautifully mannered cats that I have EVER known! And I've never had a cat that's been anything like her. Anyway she decided she wanted some smooch time with me yesterday morning. The only trouble is that I was on the toilet at the time lol. We have sliding doors to the toilet and she knows how to open them. So in she strolls. She's talking away to me making sure that she gets my attention. I talk to her of course as she is so persistent. Next thing I know she is on my lap wanting a cuddle.

Saqarra is so clever that when you ask her (or if she is in the mood) she will give you a kiss. Now a kiss is really a little nibble on the cheek, hand or Mark's beard! Well I never asked her for a kiss but she gave me one anyway. This was all too cute! Too bad I was still on the loo while all of this was happening!!

The Weekend .. .. ..

Golly Gosh this 'new' washing machine is certainly getting a work out. I've washed every day since I got it. I swear the boys hide their dirty clothes (Mark included) and only bring them out once I have done a load of washing or have emptied the clothes baskets. Oh well guess that will never change. I tell you what though the washing machine washes really well. I'm impressed and grateful that we got such a good bargain!

We've spent a quiet weekend at home. Not doing all that much but I think we need weekends like this. It was nice to actually stay home and read the paper, surf a bit, play games and just relax. The boys even managed to watch tv for a bit rather than just play the play station or be on the computer. It made a pleasant change for them too I think because they watched a couple of good movies. I still try and get them to go outside and ride their bikes but they never seem to be interested. The lazy little rascals!!

Tomorrow we take Trip to the vets to get his stitches out. He's hardly been moving about at all except for today. He's been keeping himself hidden away in the carry case. Mainly to keep away from Saqarra and the boys I think. Saqarra can be such an annoying thing when she wants to be and we all know that Trip just wants to be left alone. Today was the first time Trip didn't spend all day in the carry case and it was the first time since we've brought him home that he wanted to go outside. Not that we let him though, he is way too vulnerable to go outdoors again. He still isn't even attempting to put any weight on his leg. And seeing him run on two legs surely is a sight to see. He is amazing!

The Warrior & The Coward

My Goodness what an interesting time I had this afternoon while preparing some salads for tea/dinner. I was busy grating some carrots and cheese at the kitchen cupboards when I had a beady eyed little furry thing watching me from behind the tea cannisters on the bench top in the corner.

I asked the big fella to go get Trip to see if he would catch the mouse. I carefully started moving things out of the way so that Trip would have access to this little thing & he was placed on the bench. Mark said that we should grab Saqarra too so the little dude grabbed her and brought her into the kitchen. Well while this was all happening the mouse decided to run under Trips belly and Trip jumped and ran off. I don't know whether he was a whimp or not but I found him hiding in the bedroom under the little table next to the bed. It was so funny.
Anyway the mouse ran behind the fridge and then eventually made a dash for the stove. Mark removed the bottom cover so that the cats can get under there if they want to. So the first thing my little Egyptian Warrior did was go under the stove looking for this mouse.

Mark also said that Trip may have been confused as we don't normally let the cats on the tables or cupboards. So he is probably right but it is funny thinking that one cat may be a coward when it comes to catching mice!

I tell you I just hope that they catch the little rascal. I really don't like having these furry little things staring at me when I am preparing food!!

Cheeky Girl!

It was such a hot night last night that I had some trouble sleeping, so did Mark for that matter. Mark ended up bringing the laptop into the bedroom at about 5 this morning.
You should've seen our cheeky little girl when Mark was using the laptop!! She was walking on the keyboard and chasing the mouse on the screen. She even looked behind the screen to see where the mouse was on the other side. I couldn't help but laugh she looked so cute!

My Baby Girl

You should've seen my baby girl, Saqarra, this morning (and this afternoon ~ look at the cute pics of her!) I keep the computer tower on the floor under the desk and she jumped on top of it to get onto my lap and climbed onto the desk from there. She was sitting on the desk while I checked my email and she was grooming herself. Making sure that she was all comfortable.

She did the same thing this afternoon while I was playing a game of bejeweled. However she decided that sitting here trying to attack the screen wasn't the only playing she was going to do! She decided that my arm and hand was a suitable target! The little rascal rofl.

My NEW Baby Girl

I have a NEW baby girl! We got her today. She was a give-away. Mark got the name and phone number off the Coles Community Noticeboard, good thing it was local too. I've named her Saqqara (it's an Egyptian name - a step pyramid actually near Giza/Cairo, I love Egypt!!). She hissed and fussed when she saw Trip. Trip could care less about her. He took it in his stride. A short time ago I found them on the bed lying side by side. They were on my side of the bed no less - guess I have to sleep on the couch tonight rofl

Well I think I was a bit premature in thinking that Trip wasn't going to worry about her. He's bailed her up several times the poor little thing since I saw them on the bed together. I really think his nose has been put out of joint. Let's hope that it doesn't take that long for them to get along with one another.
