I hear this song in every single Doctor Who Christmas special. I am counting down until this years special!! It's very catchy. I know it's still November but Christmas will be upon us before we know it.
"Merry Xmas Everybody"
Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall?
It's the time that every Santa has a ball
Does he ride a red-nosed reindeer?
Does it ton-up on his sleigh?
Do the fairies keep him sober for a day?
[Chorus:]
So here it is, Merry Christmas
Everybody's having fun
Look to the future now
It's only just begun
Are you waiting for the family to arrive?
Are you sure you've got the room to spare inside?
Does your granny always tell you
That the old songs are the best?
Then she's up and rock 'n' rolling with the rest
[Chorus:]
So here it is, Merry Christmas
Everybody's having fun
Look to the future now
It's only just begun
What will your daddy do
When he sees your momma kissing Santa Claus?
Aaah ah aaah aahh
Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall?
Are you hoping that the snow will start to fall?
Do you ride on down the hillside
In a buggy you have made?
When you land upon your head
Then you've been "Slade" (slayed)
[Chorus:]
So here it is. Merry Christmas
Everybody's having fun
Look to the future now
It's only just begun
So here it is, Merry Christmas
Everybody's having fun
Look to the future now
It's only just begun
So here it is, Merry Christmas
Everybody's having fun
Look to the future now
It's only just begun
So here it is, Merry Christmas
Everybody's having fun
(It's Christmas!)
Look to the future now
It's only just begun
I am a little surprised that the new Doctor is a female.
Although that being said I like Jodie Whittaker from when she was in Broadchurch with David Tennant.
I can just imagine how interesting it will be with the Doctor discovering that he is now in a female body. This could be really good!
Mark bought me some TARDIS salt and pepper shakers for my birthday. He ordered them online, on eBay, and they arrived yesterday (not bad considering my birthday was almost two weeks ago! My guess is they never had them in stock and had to wait for them to come from overseas) Better late than never & at least they arrived safely.
Of course I had to get my miniature Doctor Who figures out and take photos of them with my new TARDIS shakers. I think they look pretty good (~_o)
There are two things that I dislike about making corner to corner graphs. The first thing is the yarn gets tangled a lot. The second thing is I need to sew in ALL the ends. However, when I make then I somehow don't seem to manage getting the ends on one side of the work I get it on both (o_0) Oh well it's all done now.
I got side tracked making a couple of baby cocoons and a midwife blanket. I am now back to making more of the Doctor Who c2c squares.
This one is the modern Doctor Who logo. The DW that looks like a TARDIS.
I decided, that with all the craziness and the tangles yarn from the previous Whovian square that I would use these yarn holders that I have had for years but rarely use.
As you can see things still get twisted together but it did make it a little easier.
The pattern, graph really, can be found HERE on the Two Hearts Crochet website.
I think I need to block this so the sides look straight and even. Although that being said I have never really blocked anything before. Not on purpose anyway ☺
I made an attempt at a graphghan during Brodie's hospital stay. It was doing my head in to be honest. I just couldn't get my head around the colour changes in the middle of the rows. It was frustrating me to no end. Last night I finally sat down and watched a video on how to manage the colour changes. I am so glad I did because I have been wanting to try a c2c graphghan for a while. I just didn't know which one to do until I saw the perfect one with all this Doctor Who.
I can't remember where I initially saw this Doctor Who Graphghan but Brodie sent me the link. I think we were at the hospital or it may have been just before Brodz went in. Not that it really matters. The link to the whole Whovian Blanket can be found HERE. It's by Two Hearts Crochet (a Whovian name if I ever saw one)
I decided to try the TARDIS square. Yep I know, drop myself straight into the deep end and begin working on something not quite so easy. I've always been like that. If you are going to start learning or creating something you may as well try and make something that you like and want completed.
What do you think? It looks pretty dang amazing in my books! YAY!
The only thing I am not liking is how I manage to get all the yarn so tangles when I turn things back and forth. I am sure I will work out a way to keep it untangles eventually. Considering how nicely this is turning out, I wont even complain about the need to sew in all the ends.
I know this square isn't even finished yet but I am already planning which of the squares I shall be doing next... the Dalek! As I said I like to jump in the deep end. It looks a lot more fiddly than the TARDIS.
If I Could Turn Back Time ... Oh wait I can ... Daylight Savings ended overnight! Technically that makes me a time traveller. Gosh I wish I was a Timelord. Just think of all the amazing places in history that I could check out. Ancient Egypt and Rome, the early days of Australian settlement. Just think of the possibilities!
At least I got my hour back this morning! However it also means that I will be waking an hour earlier than usual at least until my body gets used to things. Oh well. More time for crocheting or knitting!! So that's a bonus.
I added to my miniature Doctor Who collection over the weekend from one of those machines that are coin operated and dispense a toy at random. Luckily me, I now have the 10th and 11th Doctors.
I have managed to lose the Weeping Angel I had. It seems that Missy Issy liked the container she was in and the angel has disappeared! At least I still have the baby Adipose.
I got them out of one of those toy dispensers, like the gum ball machines, where you put in some money and turn the dial so that the toy comes down a chute.
Brodie was very lucky and got a K-9 toy. I was hoping to get that one myself. Maybe next time..
Look at this amazing item I found on etsy. Of course I'm a Doctor Who Fan .. so when I saw this as knitting needles I thought how cool to combine two of my favourite things.
My latest creation. A cover for Brodie's Galaxy Tab.
It's funny how different photos can show two different shades of blue even though I took them both with the same device, my phone. I guess taking a photos at different times of the day really does make a difference. The next few photos show a more accurate colour.
Don't mind the messy white parts that's part of the cover too.
Slowly getting there ...
I gave up trying to follow a pattern. I couldn't get my head around the one I had downloaded so I decided to make it up as I went. The amount of times I had to pull this thing apart to fix things nearly did my head in! I kept losing stitches. In the end I pretty much had to count each stitch as I went.
We're a bit excited in our house. The new Doctor Who series is currently being filmed in Wales. It's one of our favourite TV shows ever! I know it's not every ones cup of tea but it's certainly ours.
Here's a preview of the first episode of the new season.
It wont be on our TV's until it's autumn in the UK (our spring here in Oz) so we're waiting patiently and checking out Doctor Who on the BBC website for any new info we can get out little hands on. Roll on Spring!!
I have created my first treasury on etsy :)
I had such a hard time only selecting a handful items. I could've added so many more things.
I love Doctor Who. We have been very fortunate to have the every episode being played from the newer stuff beginning Series 1 with Christopher Eccleston through to Series 6 with Matt Smith being shown on ABC2 each week night. I have been in Whovian Heaven for the past few weeks! I can't wait for tonight's episode we've moved on to David Tennant :D
