Mark saw a commercial on TV about the Art of Crochet. Its a series of issues with tips & tricks on how to crochet. He said I should get it. How cool is that? He is enabling me and my obsession with knitting & crocheting!
Hopefully this will help me learn how to read patterns properly and maybe I'll be able to make things other than granny squares & beanies.
Angus was a real cutie & went into the newsagent for me this morning & picked up the first issue. I'll definitely be checking it out later.

How great! I could have used this MANY years ago when I was looking at crochet magazines showing me pictures of how to hold my yarn, how to understand abbreviations, and how to make doilies! It was a slow process...but I stuck with it, and now I know how to do all that...and then some! ^_^ How great that issues are out there like this for people! I hope you're making other things besides granny squares soon! ^_^ (Although making a good granny square is an art all it's own!)
I've watched the DVD that comes with this issue. It explains everything from how to hold the yarn & the hook to what stitches you use and even the importance of making sure you have an even tension.
I truly recommend this for beginners. I've managed to make my first square for my throw that's part of each issue.
