Thankful Thursday

I haven't written a thankful Thursday post in such a long time. I thought it was high time I did one considering it's the end of 2018. So here's what I am thankful for

  • I have CLEAR skin. My psoriasis is gone. My PASI (Psoriasis Area and Severity Index) score is a BIG fat ZERO. I have not had clear skin since 1982 when I was living in Darwin with my sister and brother in law! So YAY!!!
  • My fingernails are looking fantastic. They too almost look completely normal. The last time they looked normal was also 1982.
  • The Clinical Trial I am on has been the best thing for me this year. I needed something positive after my Dad passed away in May.
  • My air-conditioner. We've had some awfully hot weather recently and this new split system has been amazing! It is making summer almost bearable!
  • My bullet journal - I have loved how creative I have been. Not that I really share much of the stuff I have done in it. I have been happily setting up my 2019 bujo over the past few days.

What are you thankful for this week?

Clinical Trial Update

I just had a phone call from the Dermatologist Clinic in regards to the clinical trial. As a precautionary measure I needed to get a mental health assessment. The clinic has not heard back from the medical mediators but the dermatologist in charge of the trial at this clinic has checked out the letter from the psychologist and sees no problem.

My appointment for Monday has been changed to an hour earlier, which is good, and I was told I should be okay for the randomisation. I assume that means I've made it in to the study. I guess I find out for sure Monday afternoon.

Psoriasis: Methotrexate (mtx)

My script from the dermatologist arrived in the post on Friday morning. I got it filled and took my first dose of methotrexate (mtx) after tea that night. So far so good there hasn't been any real side-effects that I have noticed other than being a little light headed and a bit tired (but that may have something to do with my waking up early rather than the new medication).

The daivobet that I have been using has made a BIG difference to my psoriasis already. In fact some patches are nearly completely gone!

Let's hope things continue to improve! With little or no side effects.

Stupid Scalp Psoriasis

 photo AnybodyThere_DFly_Hello-vi11211.gif

I've been having problems with my scalp for a while now (o_O) my stupid ‪psoriasis has been playing up. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with stress or just the fact that it is now winter or maybe it's both.

So far changing my shampoo to a sulfate free one (see photo below) has done nothing to help, at least not yet but I was hoping to see a difference after using it for the past 9 days. Although my hair does look rather shiny (but it did look shiny with my last shampoo).

I now have a script for diprosone lotion, which used to be on the PBS but sadly isn't any more. I am a bit ticked off at the price I had to pay for this medication so it had better work. I recall using it many years ago but I can't remember whether it worked or not.

Is it too much to ask for nice skin? I've lived with this for nearly all of my life. For once I would like something to be 'normal'.
