Phew I'm Pooped (well sort of)

I'm enjoying some quiet time. The boys have gone to the movies to see The Avengers. I'm sure that they will enjoy it. I know that they love Thor & the Ironman movies. They wanted me to go with them but honestly what teenagers really want their Mum to cramp their style at the movies? Best let them have some time by themselves.

It's a good thing they went out too. I've managed to get stuck into a few jobs and they haven't been underfoot. Although I guess I could've gotten them to help me out.

I've managed to do two loads of washing & hang them out. Stripped and made the beds. Put dinner in the slow cooker and washed the dishes. I've finally managed to sit down for a bit. After all that work I deserve it :D

I may even get some knitting done before its time to collect the boys. Hmm maybe I should make them catch the train home... make them more independent!

What plans do you have to this weekend?

Spring Cleaning, But Its Autumn ..

Photobucket
What a gloriously sunny day today. It was certainly a reprieve from the gloomy overcast days we've had recently. So what did I do today while the weather was nice ... I swept the floor, vacuumed, did two loads of washing, finally took some washing off the line that had been stuck there for almost a week due to the rain and picked Brodie up from school because he wasn't allowed to work because he didn't take his chef's shirt with him.

For some reason the hospital kitchen staff said he was out of uniform and wasn't able to work today. I didn't read anywhere in the contract that stated he had to wear his TAFE chef's uniform to his work placement. Anyway they (work) sent him back to school and school said they didn't want him there because he had no classes to attend. So of course I had to go and pick him up. At least the weather was nice and I didn't have to drive up there in the pouring rain. But that cut into my cleaning so I made Brodie help me a bit when he got home. Surprisingly he helped without moaning about it. I'm still in shock.

I had a visitor coming this afternoon which was one of the main reasons I was cleaning/tidying up this morning ( I couldn't let my visitor see how grotty the house was). I got to meet a twitter friend for the first time, @MissMamaBear & her LittleBear. They were coming to town to visit family and popped in for a cuppa. It was nice to be able to put a face to the name.

I even managed to get some knitting done this afternoon. The little hedgehog will be finished by the end of this week hopefully. Of course there will be photos when I am done.

My only problem now is to work out what we are going to eat for dinner. I am sure if I ask the kids for suggestions they will say take-away!

Back Into A Routine

After yesterday's posts I wanted to have a bit more of a 'normal' day. Well maybe not normal because we all know that there is no such thing as normal. Maybe I should say that I wanted a day that had a more familiar routine & feel to it.

I managed to get the washing done & hung out. Last nights dishes were finally washed (I didn't do them last night before heading back to the hospital & the boys didn't think to do them for me) and I put dinner into the slow cooker. All while Mark slept. I wasn't going to wake him. Not after yesterday.

He looked much better when he finally got out of bed. I haven't really asked him how he feels but I am sure that he would tell me if he wasn't feeling well. (Apparently I did ask Mark how he felt I just forgot that I had - call me an air head! lol)

I haven't managed to knit or crochet anything for the past few days. Mainly because I hadn't felt like it but also because I didn't have the wool (well acrylic yarn) I wanted to make those cute little Hedgehogs from that book I bought on the weekend. I did manage to sew up these fingerless gloves that I had made for Brodie (I made a pair of these for Angus a while ago, well not the same type but similar) .

The pattern I had was different to the ones I made & were a lot smaller too so I had to adjust it. The pattern was for double crochet stitches (US single crochet) and I thought that was a bit too plain. So I tried jazzing it up a little with half trebles (US half double crochet) and double crochet stitches. I must admit that it looks much nicer than what the photos show.

Brodie loves them. He's the hand model by the way. I think they look pretty good. I may even make a pair for myself but not until I have made a hedgehog or two. I finally got the white & pale pink yarn I needed to make them.

Far Out Brussel Sprout

Far out! I've gone and done it again :( I hurt my back and this time I have no idea how I did it
I just took some pain killers, well one tablet really, so I should feel better in about half an hour or so. I'll just cross my fingers, toes and eyes just to make sure. Its not so bad if I don't move or breathe lol

At least I might get out of doing some housework :P that would be nice. I wonder what jobs I could convince the boys to do *evil grin*

It's A Conspiracy?!?!

I swear that there is a secret male thing going on in this house .. either that or its a conspiracy! Just like there are 'secret sisterhood' things.

You see every time I think that we only have a small amount of dirty laundry sitting in the baskets it seems to multiply as if my magic. I know I put my stuff in the baskets on a regular basis .. that only leaves the males in the house. Do they secretly work together and decide to stuff ALL their dirty washing into the baskets at the same time? Do they just, by sheer accident, manage to place it in there at the same time? Or do they just bring the washing out when they run out of clean underwear & socks? I swear they plan secret weekly meetings and decide how they can slowly drive me crazy.

So today, after thinking I only had one perhaps two loads of washing to do I have now washed three. And to top things off I get tired of being the only one who puts a load of washing on. Its not like they don't know how to use the machine. Its not fancy, there are no extra buttons to push. Its push the dial down turn it to the setting you want and pull the dial out to turn the thing on. All the other settings are done, nothing to change. Just put in the laundry liquid, close the lid and away you go.

At least the washing is done. Its hung out on the line. Mark helped with that :) Thanks hon. Just wait until later though, when its all dry ... I wonder if I can convince someone to bring it in for me. The boys will do it some times. It makes up for the other stuff, well some of it.

Day 1 - 30 Day Meme

Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

Shock horror I actually took a NEW photo of me & WITHOUT make up! Not that I wear it anyway but gosh you should've seen the first three pictures I took. Well actually you wont see them as I looked horrid & extremely RED!
I actually had to take this one in front of the bathroom mirror without the flash so that it at least looked half decent.

So far my day has consisted of getting Brodie off to respite. He's on a camp this weekend. He is going to Camp Munjara, Lake Glenmaggie which is about 2 hours drive from here. They have loads of activities planned such as a low ropes course, camp cooking, fishing, archery, a night walk & craft activities like jewellery making. I don't think Brodie was too happy about going. It takes away from his laptop & Facebook time! A weekend away will do him good!

Later on Angus & I will be going to the movies to see Tomorrow When The War Began. I've not read the book but from what I have seen with the trailers it looks pretty good. The story outline reminds me of Red Dawn with Patrick Swayze & I really liked that movie. Angus thought it would be a girly movie until he saw the previews. He likes movies with a bit of action.

Not to forget that I have also been doing some housework. It never truly ends does it? At least the washing is done & hung out. Let's hope the weather stays nice like they said it would.

Other than that I have no idea what today will end up like. But so far it looks pretty dang good!

A Busy Day So Far

I thought the weekend meant time to yourself & relaxing a bit. I've not really stopped at all. Well not really. At least the cats have managed to find a spot on the bed to snooze the day away!

I took Brodie out with me this morning. We went out of town to a primary school to vote for the Federal Election. There was NO way I was going to the local polling booth. Not with the footy on in town, the market & the election. It would be way to busy & nowhere to get a park.Anyway that's over and done with. Thank goodness. Now all we have to do is wait & see who wins.

We came back into town, a short 5 minute drive, so that we could fill up the gas tank. Then we went to the local Market. Its only held on the 3rd Saturday each month. I love getting the fresh produce that some of the stalls offer. I picked up a few bargains. Fresh cauliflower, pumpkin, brussel sprouts, cabbage. We're going have some yummy fresh veggies for tea tonight!

I thought okay, while I'm out I may as well nick into the supermarket & get some bread for Angus. He doesn't like the wholemeal & multigrain breads I've been buying recently. The only other thing we really needed was milk. Pffttt! 4 shopping bags & $50 later we headed home. So much for only getting TWO things that I needed. Perhaps nest time I'll just send one of the boys to get it.

Of course the shopping doesn't put itself away. Although it would be really nice if it did.(Maybe someone will invent a machine that will do that for me). I've managed to get two loads of washing done & hung out. I've also folded & put away some washing that I did the other day. You know the only problem with winter is that it takes things far too long to dry on the clothes line & I don't like using the dryer too much.

I think I deserve some time to sit on my butt & so something for ME! I'm not sure what it will be. Maybe a movie & some knitting or even just watching some of the shows I've recorded on the PVR. I need a rest!
