My Brother

My brother, Mark, died back in January of 2002. In fact it was 19 years ago today. Sadly he took his own life. He felt that there was no hope and no way out of the pit he was in. He gassed himself in his car at his workplace (a market garden in Virginia, SA).

I know my brother was no angel. There were times I was terrified of his behaviour but he was still my brother. He deserved better than he got. He deserved happiness and people that were understanding of his situation. If I had known how badly he was hurting I would've done something to help.

Depression is a horrible thing. An isolating thing. Something that you don't need to go through alone. There are so many places you can seek help

Even though we had our moments I still miss Mark. Brodie misses his Buddy (their name for one another) and all the mischief they got up to. Hopefully he is now resting in peace.

I've been missing you a lot over the past few months. 
You've been gone for so long now. They say it gets easier but they are wrong. You just learn to live with it a little better each day.

Rockingham Foreshore, Western Australia

Sally & I had a girls day out at the Rockingham foreshore on Monday. On Tuesday Mark and I had lunch at the foreshore with his Mum & Kevin.

Rockingham is such a beautiful place. It's certainly a place that I would considering living.

Garden Island.

Serpentine Falls, Western Australia

We went to Serpentine Falls on Sunday. It's in a National park. What a beautiful place to visit. We truly have been blessed with such lovely weather.

Point Peron, Western Australia

Mark, Sally, Luke and I visited Point Peron this afternoon. It's such a beautiful place to visit. What an amazing view of the Atlantic ocean.

I am Loving Western Australia!

Mark and I flew to Perth on Wednesday morning. We're staying with his Dad and Paula (step mum), two lovely people.

We wanted to surprise Marks Mum (Helen). So we didn't tell her that we were coming over. I finally got to meet my Mother in Law for the very first time yesterday. The look on her face was priceless when she saw Mark walk into Sallys lounge room. We were hiding when Helen and Kevin arrived.

Helen has a wicked sense of humour. I really like her. Kevin (step dad) also.

Marks family is amazing. I am so glad I am part of it.
