I took Brodie to a Cardiologist yesterday as he has high blood pressure on one side of his body. My goodness we were at the paediatrician's office for an awful long time but I guess that is to be expected. Our appointment was at 4 PM and we didn't get in until it was about 4:45. Then we had to go into another room at the surgery for an ultrasound of Brodie's heart. After that we needed to wait to see the cardiologist again. It was almost 6pm by the time we got out of there. Thankfully we only live 10 minutes down the road.
Now the cardiologist didn't seem to worried but Brodie has a leaky valve on the left, he mentioned aorta in there somewhere too. He said that as long as Brodie was able to be as active as he is its okay. He would like to see him in 12 months time though. The blood pressure is a worry though but he said that he will let the paediatrician, Michael, look after him. It may just be because of the medication he is taking or because he is a bit overweight. I've made an appointment for Brodie to see Michael in just over a weeks time. It was the earliest I could get him in. I didn't want to leave it too long before he goes in to see him.
Other than what we are already doing there isn't much else I can see happening at the moment. Apart from the Professor mentioning a 24 hour monitoring thing for Brodie's blood pressure. Brodie made such a fuss with the BP cuff that I have no idea how he would go with a cuff that checked his BP every hour. Knowing him he would pull it off.
