The Little Dude is SO Excited!

I took the little Dude shopping yesterday to get a couple of things for his Birthday on Thursday. He is just so excited. Last Friday he received a card from Poppa with a money order in it for $30. So after I collected him from school yesterday we went to the post office to cash it in. I asked him where he wanted to go shopping but he said he wasn't sure where he would like to go.

The first place we went to was of my choosing. He desperately needs a new pair of runners and he is at that really awkward size where you aren't quite in a kids size and the adults sizes aren't made that small. I thought it might be best if we went into a shoe shop rather than a shop like BIG W. At least they are more likely to have his size there. Thankfully we were in luck and we found a neat looking pair. It was so funny though the little dude thought he would have to buy them himself but I told him it was okay I was getting them. I think he was relieved rofl.

We then drove into the next town and had a look at The Warehouse. We went up and down most of the aisles but the little dude didn't see anything he wanted in there. I told him it was okay and that he didn't have to spend it in the first shop we came to. I was really proud of him because he didn't spend it just yet. Normally he is like his father .. money burns a hole in your pocket and you have to spend it fast even on junk & usually in the first shop you go to!!

Our next stop was Toy World. Where we looked up and down every aisle and some of them we went down twice. i was surprised that there wasn't a huge selection. You'd think a toy shop would have a wider variety but to me it seemed like it was for much younger children than an excited 10 year old. I think he was a little disappointed at this stage.

Eventually we went across the road to Toy Kingdom. I tried to be encouraging and explained that if he didn't have any success here that it was okay. He didn't have to spend his money today and that we would keep looking. Thank goodness this store had a better variety of stock on the shelves. Granted there were a lot of things that were not in the little dude's price range but there was more for him to check out. We went down every aisle in this place too. He was so excited when he spotted a skateboard at the back of the shop. His little mouth dropped when he saw the price tag though. I could see the disappointment on his face. Thank goodness I bought him a skateboard anyway (not that he knows about it) and I said to him never mind mate you never know what will happen with your birthday or for Christmas for that matter!!
Then the little dude finally stopped in the aisle with all the toy cars. He spotted some that he liked. One of the workers in the shop came up to us and asked if we needed assistance. I said please don't talk to me it's not my money that we are spending! Then the next thing I know the little dude found some mini-robos with three of them in the box. He was over the moon but a little disappointed, He was two dollars short. So I told him that was fine he would owe me, not that I would expect him to pay me back lol.

I came home with one very little happy dude yesterday afternoon. The big fella was a little green with envy though. He was busting a gut to get his hands on the new toys but we made him wait. He can play with them tonight if his little brother lets him!! I don't think the big fella quite understood that it would be nicer to let the little dude play with them first after all it was bought with his birthday money.
