Time For An Update

Gosh half the time I never know where to begin with a blog entry. I suppose I should just start where I finished last time.

Friday ... the car was still off the road. It had been way too hot for Mark to work on it. I think the temperature was around 40C (over 100F in the old scale). I was unable to go to he Primary School to do the newsletter. Brodie got a lift from Nick's parents & Angus got a ride with a friend so neither of them missed school.

Saturday ... it was still shockingly horrible weather. The air-conditioner has been getting a good work out. We didn't make it to foodbank as the car was still off the road for the morning. Mark did NOT have a good day and he managed to break his hand. His Borderline Personality Disorder (wiki) was getting a good work out ... his hand managed to connect with the shed door a few times then the brick wall outside for a few more punches. We didn't know his hand was broken at the time but it didn't look good and was beginning to swell up heaps. Mark popped some codeine tablets and finished working on the car. Around 2 p.m. I took him to the hospital. We were there for quite some time. He had a couple of x-rays taken and we were finally told that it was broken. Which to be honest was no surprise as you could no longer see three of his knuckles. The doctor slapped a half plaster on it gave Mark a box of panadeine forte and sent us home.

Sunday... the weather was still hot. I had an awful headache and decided that it was too much for me, the boys and the car to travel the 40 km to Church. I didn't feel up to driving all that way and then go into Nursery with a bunch of toddlers. Not that I don't love the toddlers because they are just SO adorable!!

Monday ... the weather was still hot. Angus had the day off - it was a pupil free day. Not much else happened. Well I don't remember anything important happening.

Tuesday ... Brodie had the day off because it was Parent/Teacher/Student interviews. Angus's sports day was cancelled once again due to the hot weather. It was the third time it was cancelled too. They are hoping that it will be held during the second week after next term starts.

Brodie and I went up to the High School just before 1:30 p.m. We went to see all of his teachers. It was wonderful to hear a lot of good stuff being said. Brodie of course was Mister Negative! Saying how awful it was that the teachers would only say bad things about him. I think that perhaps he was so used to the bad reports that he didn't exactly know how to react to the good stuff. Although I was not impressed with his behaviour. He was butting in, talking over the top of the teachers or myself and fidgeting like crazy!

Wednesday .. I can't remember much about yesterday. Which is sad to say really. Other than knitting more beanies and doing some grocery shopping, enjoying the cool change that finally arrived and watching a bit of TV I didn't do much else.

I would blog some more but the boys are nagging for dinner so I'll write some more later if I get the time.

Election Day

Finally the election day has arrived. We were getting so jacked with all the commercials on tv and how the main parties were tending to mud sling. It's always the same every time there is an election whether it is state or federal. I'll be glad to see the back of little Johnny though. It's time for a change and I hope that Rudd gets in.

We were going to vote at the local school just around the corner but there were way too many cars there for our liking. So we went off to foodbank like we always do on Saturdays and then headed off to the school where Brodie school bus stop is. I am so glad that I decided to go there. There were only two people in front of us. We were in and out in no time.

On the way out of the classroom Angus asked who I voted for. So I told him that I voted for someone on the green paper and someone on the white paper. Then as we walked back to the car he said, "You know Mum that in 7 years and 6 days I can vote too". How cute is that?!!

.. .. This Weekend .. ..

I didn't do a lot this weekend. Well in my view it wasn't much. Yesterday Mark went to foodbank with our neighbour. I don't know if I have ever explained foodbank before. I don't think I have. It's run by a church in the next town from us. Basically we pay $5 each time we visit and we get groceries in return. Sometimes we get a large variety and other times we don't. It kind of balances itself out but it also depends on what is in season and what foods that the church can purchase from 'foodbank' in Melbourne.

The boys and I stayed home. In fact it was nice to be able to stay at home and not have to go out at all. I spent a lot of time doing the washing, sorting out my blogs, playing cards & doing some applique. I'm still making my Christmas presents at the moment.

Last night I was all set to watch Iron Chef. I love that show and I always look forward to watching it. But it wasn't on :-( I know it isn't made any more but it was entertaining and definitely had some weird food being cooked. It's not on for the next few weeks so I guess it will be movie (well dvd) night for a while.

I was a good girl yesterday also and planned my Nursery lesson for this week, it's prepared in the book but I simplify it for the little ones. It was kind of appropriate I think for me and the boys, well Mark too. It was on Family Prayer (LDS.org) and praying as a family. The lesson went really well today too which is always a bonus. The kids are just too cute!

I;m going to have to get off this thing. I knew I shouldn't have started this post when the boys were still up. I need to go and bang their heads together to stop them from fighting. Either that or throw a bucket of cold water over them!! The Rats!!!!!

This Past Week ..

Golly what a week this one has been. Where do I start .. at the end of last week I guess.

Friday~ Brodie was home as he was suspended from school Not bad for the first week back of Term 3. This time it was for being exited three times in a matter of two days. He had been throwing snowballs (not a big deal in itself - well not to me at least) but the teacher did ask him to not throw any and he refused to listen. That was one exit. He chose not to follow instructions and was rather loud and disturbing others. That was the second exit. The third one .. well I'm not too sure what happened there. I think he walked out of class without permission or something like that. So needless to say he was home from school and would not be going back until Tuesday.

Saturday~ Woohoo! IT was D DAY!! Well Harry Potter Day at least. The seventh and final book of the series was released and we went to the Warehouse to get our pre-ordered copy! We all went actually. It wasn't as smooth sailing as I would've liked either. The store computers were down. It seems that head office hadn't gotten their act together and switched them on. You'd think they would have had a back up system for when things like this happen.
We also went to foodbank, our usual Saturday excursion, we don't all normally go for that one. Sometimes it's Mark & our neighbour or its me and one of the boys.

Sunday~ I didn't feel up to going to Church so I stayed home. We didn't do all that much apart from watch movies, play games or read Harry Potter.

Monday~ Brodie was still home from school. We had to go to Frankston for our LDS Social Services appointment. That went reasonably well. Well I think it did. It certainly seemed more helpful than just visiting with GCAMHS. We got a phone number so that we can contact and Elder & Sister who have an adult son with Aspergers. They might be able to help us out with ideas and come and chat to the people in our ward who are associated with Brodie.

Tuesday~ Not a lot happened today apart from picking the boys up from school and going grocery shopping.

Wednesday~ Brodie had an appointment at GCAMHS after school. I'm not too sure what went on in there as I was waiting outside in the waiting area for him. I at least got to read an interesting article or two in a magazine. They need to get some new ones soon though as I have read nearly all of the ones they have there lol. Oh I got another phone call from the High School once I go home though. It seems that our big fella has taken to covering his head again and didn't have that great a day at school. I would've been nice to know this before we went to GCAMHS. Oh well. I also gave our old phone away on freecycle today & I got some genealogy magazines from freecycle too. Plus I just had to buy some new quilting magazines. They have some really neat projects in them.

Thursday~ I was very busy trying to sort out my Scratch That Darn Itch blog. I was labelling all of the posts and changing the page format around. Golly I did not realise that I was such a whinger on it in the earlier posts. Thank goodness I am not like that now. What a complaining bore!! My Visiting Teachers also came over tonight. I had completely forgotten that they were coming until they knocked on the door. Lucky us, Mark cooked a lovely vegetarian rice dish which I told him he could cook again as it was so yummy!!

It's the weekend!

It's a long weekend ... we're celebrating the Queen's 80th birthday. It's kinda funny though her birthday is the same day as Mark's and that was back in April! The reason why it's celebrated in June is because the weather is much nicer in England during June than it is in April.

Before I forget I must say that the big fella made it through the WHOLE school week without being suspended!! Woohoo!! It's great to know that he can do it. Now he just needs to get through a 4 day week this time round. He only has to last 4 days then its school holidays. I can't believe that it's holidays again already .. however they did have a 12 week term this time. It's just that it doesn't seem that way for the big fella. He's spent MORE time home than he has at school this term! Well it feels that way anyway.

Yesterday we went into town to food bank. It's held by a church and you pay $5 for some groceries. You certainly get your money's worth. We ended up with quite a bit of junk food the last couple of times we've gone. What did we get this time? Biscuits, pretzels, corn chips, pasta, potatoes, pumpkin, tomatoes, cream cheese, a loaf of bread and some other stuff that I just can't think of right now. We can't really complain about what we get since we really do get more than what we pay for.
While we were in town I made sure I paid some money on my lay-by. I've got some pj's for the boys and some stuff for myself on lay-by. It's not very often that I get something for myself but I needed these as they are an essential. I'll have to start another lay-by soon I really am in need of some new clothes. Especially for church. I only have one skirt that is suitable for winter and I don't know how much longer I can keep wearing it! It's not right that I only have one thing I can wear during winter!

Church was good today. The main talk was about temple and not just the building... it was about treating your body as a temple and making sure that you follow the Word if Wisdom etc. Mark said his priesthood meeting was about prayer and how you should ask Heavenly Father for anything and everything because if you don't ask He wont know how to help you. Well he would but he wont know that you want it, would He?
The boys must've had a good time because they never complained once. Which is amazing in itself. They normally complain about something no matter how small or trivial it may seem. I know I shouldn't complain about that .. it really is a good thing that they didn't.

Tomorrow is our public holiday and we really don't have much planned. In fact I am liking the idea of just staying home. We travel enough during the week and on Sunday's that I AM entitled to at least one day off a week. Which of course NEVER happens but since tomorrow is a holiday I want to stay home!!! Somehow I doubt that will happen because we're running low on groceries and I may need to drive into town to get some milk, etc. Too bad I didn't get it yesterday when we were out but I didn't think to and I don't get paid until Monday's anyway. So that kind of messes things up anyway.

Still busy .. ..

Last night we had a family movie night .. although Mark didn't watch the dvd with us. Her went to read instead. So maybe it wasn't a family movie night after all.
I bought the boys the latest Harry Potter movie as part of their Easter present from me but I didn't want to wait until Easter to watch it. I don't think the boys were particularly worried about waiting but I really wanted to see it. So what Mum says goes! rofl
Well maybe only for the movie last night the boys still don't seem to listen to anything I have say.

This morning Mark and I woke early before the kids, an extremely unusual thing for us to both do. So of course the boys thought that we had sone another all-nighter. NO way! Been there done that and we weren't going to do that last night. Although Mark and I did a lot of talking about a lot of different things. We spoke about Church, about scriptures and we even checked out a few LDS websites. In fact over the last few days we have checked out a lot of LDS online stores so that Mark can get an idea on what sort of things are available as he wishes to get his own set of scriptures. He's currently using versions he has downloaded off the net as ebooks but he would really like his own hard copy. So for now he is either using mine or the boys grandfather's books.

We also went to food bank. Basically its a place where for a donation of $5 you receive a couple of shopping bags full of food ranging from some fruit & veg, rice, jam to snacks for the kids but it all depends on what they have available. While we were there the boys seemed to have a ball, Mark got to chat with some of the people there (it's run by a Church group) and well I just felt uncomfortable. To be honest I have no idea why I felt that way but I did. It's not like these people weren't friendly or anything I just plain felt uncomfortable being around them.

On our way home we called into the library. We needed to print something for Church, well I wanted to print Sacrament Bingo, so that the little dude could play it during church tomorrow. We got that printed okay which was good and the boys & I joined the library aswell. We belong to a different shire council library but this one is in our local one. I got a book from one of my fave Aussie authors Kate Forsyth. She writes some awesome fantasy ones and the one I found on the shelf was a continuation of one of her series, called the Witches of Eileanan, which is set 20 years after the original series was wet. So far it is a really good read.
