Another way to make things a little easier when you either knit or crochet. I've not tried this technique myself but I have been thinking about doing this with some of the scraps I have. That way when the new yarn winder I ordered arrives I can make up new balls of yarn.
I tried this the other night when I was joining the same colour yarn together for a new Call the Midwife blanket I am making. You can hardly see where the join is at all. I had Brodie try and work out where I joined it up after I had crochet some more and he wasn't able to tell where it was.
I will definitely be using this join more often. It's a tad fiddly but it works.
