Spring Cleaning But It's Autumn

Angus's laptop is getting dangerously close to dying. The screen is not playing nice any more and goes all white or has lines all through it. Mark & I decided that it was time for Angus to have a desktop computer. The only problem is there is no spare desk. Well not until the printer was moved on my desk and everything was cleaned up.

I am so glad I never took before and after photos. I don't think I would really want everyone to see how messy my desk was. Everything gets dumped on it. When we clear the kitchen table for meals 90% of the stuff got dumped on the desk. Sadly that's usually where it stayed.

My side of the desk. My tower is on the lest but you can't see it in this photo.
Once we started cleaning up by the printer I just had to do the rest of the desk. It would've been silly to have only one nice clean work station.

Angus's part of the desk
Angus is able to work next to me and I can keep and eye on what he's doing. I don't think he likes that idea too much but that's too bad. He is still earning back out trust from a couple of weeks ago. There's is even a bit of space for Angus to put his school netbook and he can sit there to do his homework. I can even sit next to him while he does it so I can make sure he focus on each task instead of playing music or games like he tried to get away with whilst sitting at the kitchen table. I am loving the idea of being able to see what he is getting up to.

At least we have a very clean desk. I'm just not all that sure how long it will last.

What A Day!

So Mum what's new in the Wug's backyard? Rory joined me at the desk when I was catching up on some blog reading :)

Boy what a busy day we had today. This morning I was at Angus's High School attending parent-teacher-student interviews. Of course Angus absolutely hates it when we attend these things. I don't know why .The majority of his teachers always say wonderful things about him. Things like: how polite he is, that he's helpful and that he's caught up with his work or is doing better than last time the teacher taught him. Of course there was the occasional comment like you need to stop chatting with your friends so much and focus on the work. Angus is such a chatterbox when he wants to be. I don't know where he gets that from. It must be his Irish side with the gift of the gab or something :D

This afternoon it was graduation time for Brodie and I. The Ambassador Program we were doing wrapped up today. We were able to invite family to join us at a Chinese restaurant to help us celebrate. I know I wont need to eat dinner tonight! We had such a lovely time. I almost didn't want to see it end.
Two of the ladies who ran the program want Brodz and I to give a  talk to a small group of students at our local TAFE. They are doing a course related to working with Special Needs kids. It wont be until next term some time. I'm kind of looking forward to sharing my story.

Brodz & I were given a book to write our story in.

I'm a bit pooped from all of the running around from today. I really would like to catch a Nanna nap before it gets too late or I may not sleep tonight. It's a good thing that school holidays started today. I have the next two weeks to have lazy mornings. Maybe a nap wont hurt after all :D

Thankful Thursday

Photobucket

Oops I didn't post yesterday. I got busy doing things and thought that I would find time to post later. When I finally remember that I still hadn't posted I was too pooped and went straight to bed. I needed the sleep.

Here's what I am thankful for this week:
  •  beautiful autumn weather. Especially the crisp mornings that warm up into perfectly sunny warm days!
  • my crochet. It keeps me sane (~_~)
  • TAFE. Angus is always thrilled to go to his TAFE course on Wednesdays. Anything that gets him excited about learning is good in my books!
  • Rory. His antics and smoochiness has made me smile a lot this past week.
  • C.K. for his big soft cuddles and keeping my lap warm.
  • Visiting Teachers - they should be here soon. It's been a while since I've seen them.

What are you thankful for this week?

Patiently Waiting For Who

We're a bit excited in our house. The new Doctor Who series is currently being filmed in Wales. It's one of our favourite TV shows ever! I know it's not every ones cup of tea but it's certainly ours.
Here's a preview of the first episode of the new season.

It wont be on our TV's until it's autumn in the UK (our spring here in Oz) so we're waiting patiently and checking out Doctor Who on the BBC website for any new info we can get out little hands on. Roll on Spring!!

Weighty Matters

When I got on my bathroom scales this morning and thought they were broken. In fact I hopped on them three times before I was convinced that the numbers might be right. Although I did ask Brodie to try them too just to make sure my scales were in fact working properly. The reason is according to my scales I have lost another 2 kilograms (4.4lbs) which takes my total weight loss up to 22 kilos (48.5 lbs) I'm flabbergasted! Yep that's the best word to describe how I am feeling this morning.

Since I hopped on the scales I thought I would go all out and grab the tape measure too. Just to see if my waistline has shrunk as well. This has really knocked me for six. I have lost 7cm (2.75 inches) around my waist. It explains why my pants are feeling loose, my blouses look like there's more room in them and my dresses fit better.

Who would have thought being diagnosed with Diabetes and having to cut sugar from your diet would lead to such a positive change? I know I didn't. I had dieted on and off for years. I was the type of person whose weight is like a roller-coaster ride flowing up and down. It feels funny to say this but I am glad I was diagnosed. It was the push I needed to help me focus on a healthier me.

My Photographer

Mark has a new Digital SLR camera. He's written about it on his blog. Mark has all sorts of fancy lenses & things to go with the camera. He did tell me but my mind didn't seem to be able to hand on to all the details (o_0)
If you're interested you can check out his post HERE. He's taken some amazing photos with it already. Here's just a few of them.

I have no idea what the plants are that have been photographed. All I know is that they're flowers and they look pretty :D
Mark's other photos can be found here on flickr.
If you check out the photos on flickr you can download them for wallpapers :D

A Quiet Saturday

Porcupines
I know the photo above doesn't look like much but that's my dinner in the slow cooker. I made Porcupines. That yummy dish where you make your own rissoles/meatballs and roll them in rice and pour tomato soup over them. I normally cook them in the oven but I wanted to try them in the slow cooker for a change. Did I ever mention that I ♥ love ♥ my slow cooker? Anything that makes my life easier and helps produce delicious food is good in my book :D

It's just Angus and I at home today. Mark is off doing a working bee (provided the weather stays nice). I have no idea where he went for that. He did tell me but I've forgotten (-_-)  Sorry Hon! I know its to do with amateur radio. At least I remembered that part.
Brodz is off doing his volunteer thing with the ROADIES group from Interchange. It gets him out of the house and off the computer for a bit. Plus we all get a bit of a break from one another. Being together all the time does have its drawbacks like getting underfoot and on one another nerves. This way when we get together we actually have something interesting to share :)

Now for some time with Angus .. we don't get to spend time together very often. I might take him out to the coffee shop for a hot chocolate :)

WIP - Spotlight Squares

I mentioned the other day that I was making the Spotlight squares. I've managed to finish the second square but I've had to skip week 3. I just can't seem to be able to follow the pattern at all. My brain just doesn't want to work properly while I read it.

Spotlight Square - Week 2 pattern
I went on to complete week 4 but I forgot to take a photo of that square. Oops.
I've managed to get most of week 5 done however I am now stumped. Round 5 is giving me problems or was that round 6! Not that it matters which round it is I've had the square sitting on the coffee table since Wednesday waiting for me to finish it (o_0) I think it will sit there a while longer. If you're interesting in getting the patterns for your self you can go here to download them.

My two babies. Rory is asleep on Angus.
I just had to share some cute photos of Rory especially since he was so unwell this week. The poor baby has to eat plain chicken & rice but he's fussing & begging for other foods whenever anyone goes into the kitchen. I've had to feed C.K. and Trip outside for the past two nights.

Cats amaze with the positions they get into when they are sleeping!
They really can sleep any where!
I'm off to go download the Spotlight patter for week 6. Hopefully I'll be able to follow the instructions for the new square.

Thankful Thursday

Photobucket

Here's what I am thankful for this week:
  • a healthy Rory cat. We had to take him to the vets yesterday. Rory had been vomiting all day and was quite distressed. He was nothing like his usual self :( He stayed at the vets over night on a drip. He needed an x-ray and an ultrasound to make sure that there wasn't a bowel obstruction. Thankfully he picked up and by this afternoon he was able to come home. The vet seemed to think that he must have eaten something that was toxic to his system. It doesn't really surprise me kittens (and puppies) eat all sorts of things they aren't meant to!
  • Brodie. He cleaned up all of the mess that Rory made when he was sick yesterday.
  • Angus has been keeping up to date with most of his homework. I guess not having internet access gives you plenty of time to concentrate on homework!
  • My niece, Lee-Anne, is expecting another baby. She's had her 18 week check up the other day & everything is going well. I'm crossing my fingers and praying that everything continues to go well with this pregnancy.

What are you thankful for this week?

Healthy Supermarket Tour

Last Friday I went on a Healthy Supermarket Tour. It's organised through Diabetes Victoria. I was to meet the group at the service desk at a supermarket in the next town over from us. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was only the tour leader Alyse (she's a dietitian). She informed me that this was her first tour that she's led. All I could think was wow it's just the two of us. This should be good :D

Alyse asked me what I would like to focus on. I really just wanted to learn how to read food labels properly so that I would know exactly what I am buying and whether it's a healthy choice or not. We headed off to the down the aisles and started looking at the labels. Alyse asked me to choose foods that I normally buy and we would also compare it to other items on the shelves.

We kept referring to a book called 'Healthy Shopping Guide' (I was given one to keep at the end of the tour). The book explains how to read the nutrition labels on different foods, the maximum & minimum requirements for things like salt, sugar, fats found in foods for each of the food groups. For example healthy versions of milk and alternative products need to have less than 2g of total fat per 100ml AND more than 120mg of calcium per 100ml. So basically you look for skim milk.

Since I was selecting a lot of the foods that I usually buy I was pleased to find that I had been choosing a lot of the healthier options all along. There were a few that I was surprised with. Foods like wraps. I thought that they would be a healthier option but when you look at that saturated fats and sodium levels they contain it made me realise that they really aren't much better than some of the white breads you can buy. I had only been looking at the carbohydrates on the packaging before and not much else.

The book also has a suggestion of foods for each category that are healthier options. It kind of takes the hard work out of what to look for on the shelves. Although I was happy to find that some of the generic brands that I normally get were pretty healthy. Provided you take the time to look at the labels and do the maths to work out if its good or not. I cannot tell you how much maths I did during that tour. My brain got a really good workout that's for sure!

I really enjoyed being on the tour. I learned so much. I hate to admit it but going food shopping does take me a lot longer to do now. I check ALL the labels before I put things into my trolley. I am sure that once I get the hang of things I will know which products are the better options and things will speed up. For now I make sure I set aside at least an hour when I do my shopping :-/

Look What I Bought

I've been shopping on ebay again. This time I bought some colourful crochet hooks. 14 of them! How could I pass up a bargain like this? 14 hooks for $7.55 including postage (that's less than $8 US). It would certainly cost a lot more than that had I gone into a shop to buy them.

The sizes range from 2.5 mm to 10 mm. I like the idea of them being different colours.
Sorry the photo is a little out of focus but I think my camera did a pretty good job with the close up :)

if you click on the photo you will be able to see the conversion chart more clearly

Of course I had to give them a test drive last night. I started doing the Spotlight Block of the Week Throw
I thought it might look nice in the variegated yarn that I had in my stash.

If you're interested in joining the crochet-a-long you can download the patterns from Facebook. The pattern is in UK/International terminology and there are 5 squares available at the moment.

My Heart Broke A Little On Saturday

Be warned this is a relatively long post for me but I have a lot to write about on this particular topic. So please bear with me.

You will not believe what has happened this past weekend. In fact I was so shocked on Saturday morning that it has taken me until today to even get my head around what happened. In fact I am sure that even you will be surprised and shocked when you read about it.  I've warned the boys that anything that happens in this house is fair game for a blog post. I don't think they believed me when I reminded them of this .. So here's what happened...

I woke up at around 6:40am Saturday morning when I heard Mark talking with Angus in the lounge/dining/computer room about how Angus had gone over the limit with his internet allowance.

We've got our home network set up via a Smoothwall (it's a computer that our internet connection gets plugged into that we access so we can get on the web, it's also a firewall that protects our home network). Smoothie lets us track how much bandwidth individual people use. It does other stuff too but I wont go into that its a bit complicated. Any way we have allowed 20GB per person each month. If the boys exceed their limit they need to negotiate with us to be given more. That basically means I make them a slave for a while and get some much needed (cleaning) jobs done & they get more data allowance.

What our bandwidth looks like so far for this month.
Click on the photo if you wish to see it better.

Mark had asked Angus what he had done online to have used up all of his bandwidth in such a short time. Of course Angus used the usual "I don't know" response. It's something the boys say often and its usually a cop out. They think by saying that it will get them out of trouble - it doesn't btw it only makes us more annoyed. You think they would have learned by now not to say it. Then he said he had been playing one of his shooting games online with friends. Call of Duty or something like that.

So Mark gets Angus to give him his laptop & he goes through the programs to see what on earth used up all of that bandwidth. The first surprise was a bit torrent (wiki) client was running. For those who don't know what that is it's where you can download programs, movies, music etc from other peoples computers. Basically its a file sharer. Problem is a lot of copyrighted stuff gets shared illegally through them and we do NOT condone that sort of thing on our network. BUSTED! Not only that Angus had illegal software on his machine! He lost all of them!

The next surprise was when Mark checked the netbook (which Angus uses for school work only) and found Skype on it. Angus quickly stated that the school had installed it this time and he only activated it the other day. Angus new that he wasn't allowed to have it. He was reminded a few weeks ago when he had been to his besties house and downloaded it there. It was uninstalled. Angus then installed Skype on his netbook a day or so after we had gotten Angus to get rid from his laptop.  BIG mistake!!
I mentioned in a post a while ago how Skype servers detect what type of internet connection you have and if you have a pretty good internet connection it uses your connection (and bandwidth) as a super-node. So it chews up your data allowance. When we found that out Skype was banned from our network.

The final surprise that is the most shocking of all. I cried when I heard it. Its something that I wont forgive or forget very easily. My 15 year old son had PORN on his computer. Yep PORN!! He had it hidden in folders on his laptop and on his memory sticks. He said that he got it from friends. He probably even downloaded it himself. I'm in two minds as to whether I should dob him in to the school or not as I have no idea if the kids involved swapped all this stuff whilst at school or at each others homes. He will most likely lose his job as an IT Captain if we do.

I thought this child was still innocent. Still a good boy. Still following the beliefs that we had taught him. Choosing The Right. My heart died a little on Saturday morning. My baby has now LOST our TRUST.

Angus has now lost all internet privileges for the rest of this month. He has lost administration privileges on his computer. If he wants to have any new programs installed he needs to ASK Mark for permission. If Mark deems that the program is a legal copy then he might consider installing it for him.
Angus will also be subject to weekly and random searches of his laptop, netbook and memory sticks.

I am wondering if we have given him enough 'punishment' or if we should be a little bit harder on him. Angus knows he has to do as he's told pretty much straight away. He also knows that he WILL have to EARN my TRUST again. It will take a bit of convincing to get that back.

I'm Only Half Baked

I made some really yummy soda bread yesterday. It's the first time I've made it.
I used this recipe HERE although I did swap the white plain flour for wholemeal plain flour.

Soda Bread
I think I should have cooked it for another 5 minutes or so as the middle was a little doughy still. Oh well trial and error right? Next time it will be better.

Even though it wasn't completely cooked through no one complained. This soda bread was really nice.
It was a bit like fruit loaf and really nice toasted for breakfast the next day :)

It's St.Patrick's Day!

Today is the day that everyone is Irish or at least claims to be! My boys definitely have Irish heritage, after all their father (Victor) was born in Northern Ireland. I have some Irish heritage too. One of my great-grandmothers was born in Ireland. Mark however has traced his family tree back to the Irish Kings. Who would have thought that I live with Irish royalty (~_o) well, okay many generations removed but still it's royalty and it sounds impressive.

In honour of this lovely day I am cooking corned beef and cabbage for tea in the slow cooker. I also told the boys that we would have green, white and orange vegetables! Poor Angus thinks I will make him eat peas (his least favourite food) but I wont. I may just dye some mashed potato green and orange.
I've even toyed with the idea of making soda bread. It's something the boys other Nanna used to make all the time. I remember that it tasted so good. I also remember she liked making potato bread too.

one of my favourite songs from The Corrs (a great Irish band)

Do you go anything special for St. Patrick's Day?

Busy, Busy, Busy

It's been an awfully long and busy day today. I was left home at 9:30am and arrived home around 4pm. And all of it done on less than 6 hours sleep! Right now I just wish I was doing what Rory is doing in the photo below. In fact I might lie down on the couch later and inspect the inside of my eyelids for a while and pretend to be watching T.V.

Why is it pets always look cuter when they sleep?
Before I disappear I just wanted to say briefly say what I've done today. I went on a "Healthy Supermarket Tour" with Diabetes Victoria. I wont go into it too much right now because it deserves a post all to itself but I will say that I learnt quite a lot. Not only that it was good to know that I have been on the right track with some foods and I've been making good choices all along :D

After the Supermarket tour I went straight to Traralgon where Brodie goes to the GETT Centre (part of TAFE). We've been part of the Ambassador Program. I mentioned that a few weeks ago. We've only got two more weeks to go and that's finished. Brodz and I will get certificated to say that we've completed the program. It's been great seeing the kids develop more confidence and speak about themselves. I am sure that they look forward to doing a speaking engagement and getting paid $100 for their efforts.

I'm off to go check the washing (work never ends does it?) and then go sit down for a bit and maybe get a little bit of a nap in. I doubt it will happen. Thank goodness it's the weekend tomorrow and I can sleep in. Sleeping in is waking up any time after 7am.

Thankful Thursday

Photobucket

Here's what I am thankful for this week:
  • rain! It's been so humid here these past couple of days that I have been waiting for it to rain so that things can cool down a little
  • text messages. The boys & I have had some interesting conversations this week on our phones
  • my DVR - I've been able to record all sorts of tv shows that I can watch when there isn't anything interesting to watch on tv
  • flatulence. Yes I know that is a very, very strange one to include but I've had awful colic pain this week and walking & fluffing has helped tremendously. Plus the boys think its funny when mum lets one rip (o_0) I guess you have to be here to appreciate that one lol

What are you thankful for this week?

Food Glorious Food

I mentioned last month that I got a new subscription to a food magazine. Well my Super Food Magazine arrived yesterday and I have been drooling over reading the recipes trying to work out which ones would be the best ones to try and which ones I could modify to make more diabetic friendly. I have to admit that they all look fantastic if the photos in the magazine are anything to go by.

Super food ideas

You should see the big selection of recipes. With all the yummy foods that my family loves. Rice, noodles, chorizos, pasta, eggs ... I could go on. There really isn't much that we don't like eating. Well there is more on Mark & the boys list of NO GO food like offal (although they eat pate) but I don't mind that. The only thing I definitely wont eat is tripe ewwww gross! The rest I would pretty much have a taste of to see if I like it.

How amazing do those dishes look?

Irish Cream Mousse

Stir-fry ~ YUM!

Spanish Chorizo and prawn rice.

I'm going to drool some more flick through the recipes to see what I might try cooking for tea tonight.

I've Been Hunting Wabbits

Okay so I wasn't really hunting Wabbits (like Elmer Fudd says). I've been hunting for some crochet patterns. Ones that are easy to follow and hopefully quick to make up. There's nothing I dislike more than making something that takes forever to complete. I know I'm one of THOSE people who likes to do things quickly and yes I am also one of THOSE people who stands in front of the microwave waiting for it to hurry up and finish! (it's not like it doesn't cook fast enough right?)

Anyway here are some of the patterns I found recently. I have no idea if I will make them all but I've added most of them to my collection (either downloaded or bookmarked) You never know when inspiration will strike and you might want to make something special and you've already found the perfect pattern! What's even better is they're all freebies!

Granny Square Poncho
Who said granny squares were just for blankets?

Pretty Posy Throw
Look at the pretty flowers! I love the look of this one.
It's definitely in my I wish to make that one day pile of patterns!

Mary Jane slippers
These slippers look like they would be perfect on a cool morning or for when you're snuggled under a blanket on the couch :)

Little Starburst Dishcloth
I know this one says it's for a dishcloth but wouldn't it make a great afghan square?

Penguin Bowling Set
How cute are these penguins?

Bright Floral Placemats
I like flowers. What can I say. I love how these look. They're definitely in my really want to make this pile!

The Past & The Present

What our town used to look like

Mark found a great website the other week that I had been meaning to share for a while now. It shows a whole range of old photographs that had been taken of our town in 1944. I would love to be able to share some of the photos but you aren't allowed to download them due to copyright reason. If you would like to see them please click HERE. There's also a little video of the photos with Rosemary Blackley from the local historical society talking about them.

what our town looks like today ..
(photos from wiki)

I really like the old photographs. Things looked less busy, less complicated and more laid back. Sometimes I wish that things still felt like that.

WIP - Afghan (pt 3)

I thought I would share how much that blanket I have been making has grown.

Its slowly getting there but I am running out of scrap pieces of yarn very quickly. So I may have to put the blanket away and do some new projects for a while.
Would you believe that there are over 100 little squares? It doesn't really look like though.

At the moment it looks like it would be a great size for a babies cot. With plenty of room on the sides to be able to tuck it in :)

Primary School Choir

I found myself sing and humming a song this morning that I had learnt when I was in the Year 7 choir in Primary School (that's Grade school for my overseas friends). The song is called Land Of The Silver Birch. I managed to find it on youtube. It's not quite how we sang it but I sill love it and have great memories from when I was learning it and performing it with several other schools in our area in front of all our parents.

I also remember after we had done our performances all the schools in the Elizabeth & Salisbury area (where I grew up) got together to perform and record an album on vinyl! We had to do a lot of singing that day. If someone coughed, sneezed or scraped their chair it would be picked up by the microphones. Even though we had to sing some songs over and over again it was a lot of fun. It's a shame that they never continued with the combined schools choir. It just fizzled out :(

I still have the album although I don't have a record player to play it on but at least I still have it :D Maybe I should put a record player on my wish list.

Thankful Thursday

Photobucket

Here's what I am thankful for this week:
  • Brodie has gone to TAFE on Monday & managed to stay there all day! WTG Brodz. I know you might not think its a big deal but for the past few weeks he has only gone for an hour or so and ended up coming home due to a disagreement. It's good that he was able to stay all day (plus it gave me some peace but shhh don't tell Brodz that)
  • Angus has been doing homework (not that he has much of a choice he's lost his laptop for two weeks due to misbehaving & having a bad attitude) and is slowly catching up on his over due work.
  • Mark has emptied the trailer which was full of rubbish and has been tidying up the backyard. It's looking really good!
  • Being able to get some more of that crocheted blanket done. It's looking really bright and colourful. (remind me to take some more photos to share)

What are you thankful for this week?

Things I Have Learnt

Things I have learnt recently:
  • don't forget to phone your Dad or he will begin to worry and think that something has gone wrong. Oops sorry Dad.
  • make sure that Brodz has taken his morning meds or you will need to make a mad dash to the train station with his medication in one hand and a drink bottle in the other so he can take them (I did that yesterday because Brodie forgot to take them)
  • don't take Mark shopping with you very often. Not unless you wish to get a lot more groceries (and other stuff) that you didn't intend on buying. Although it does depend on the shop. If you go to Spotlight or some other craft store that's a different story. Mark will encourage you to buy MORE  :D
  • don't feed Rory food from your plate or he will expect it every time you are eating or preparing something. I swear that cat thinks he is human. Well, either that or we are cats just like him.
  • that I need to let Angus walk to school in the mornings because it is good for him! He got stroppy yesterday because I didn't drive him to school. Plus Angus needs to be able to ASK properly if he wants me to take him. Saying "I don't suppose you want to take me" is NOT the way to ask your Mum for a ride.

The Rain Keeps Falling Down

I feel pretty bad for the people of New South Wales and Victoria who are affected by the recent rains and the flooding (which hasn't finished yet some rivers have not reached their peaks).

This is a photo of Wagga Wagga from news.com.au

It makes me realised how blessed I am to live where I do. I can only imagine how hard it is to lose everything and need to start again.
I'm not exactly sure what the weather forecast is for these areas is but I'm crossing my fingers that the rain stops and the water levels drop quickly.

Random Mobile Photos

Sometimes I get very snap happy with the camera on my mobile phone. So I thought I would share some of the photos that I ad taken over the past month or so.

The food was what we had for dinner one night when I couldn't be bothered cooking. It was a yummy cheese platter with some crackers, dip, pate & some veggies. Even though it was very healthy (well I thought it was) my blood glucose level didn't show that it was the best option. I'm thinking that perhaps I had a few too many crackers than I should have.

I've been on a bit of a crochet kick for the past few months. It's so much faster than knitting but you don't need me to tell you that. With me doing all that crocheting I have over done things and my carpal tunnel has been playing up a lot! So I have had to put my other wrist brace on during the evenings so that my arm doesn't ache as much. It seems to be helping.

As you can see I had to take some super cute photos of my baby Rory. You have to admit he does does look beautiful. I can't believe that he's just turned 4 months old already.

WIP - Afghan (pt 2)

I had set this up as a scheduled post for yesterday morning but it didn't go through :( oh well better late than never.

This is what I've been up to these past few days with my crocheting. I've slowly been putting the squares together.

It still reminds me of a stained-glass window.

I am really enjoying making this little blankie. Mainly because I am using up a lot of the scraps that I had left over from other projects. I'm slowly running out of colours but that's a good thing right? That means I can go shopping for more yarn again :P (That's my story and I am sticking to it!!)

I'm thinking that I'll keep going on this for a while longer. I have no idea how large it will be when it's complete. I just know that I'll keep plodding along until my leftover stash is almost gone. Either that or until I get fed up and want to do something new.
