What a mixed bag of weather Australia has had these past few weeks. With flooding rains in Queensland, northern New South Wales and pasts of Victoria to heatwaves in Western Australia and parts of South Australia.
They say we are the lucky country but I am thinking that there are many today that are thinking that they aren't so luck after all.
Most of Queensland is under water, even Brisbane is under flood watch. I've been on twitter getting lots of updates and I have seen lots of photos (and videos). Its rather scary to see. Heartbreaking in fact. With many places already under water and lots of people being asked to evacuate immediately.

They have also stated that if you were in an area affected by the 1974 floods to get out NOW because it is expected to be worse this time around.
I hope & pray that there are no more lives lost.

I'm sitting here in tears. I didn't realize it was this bad! I haven't been watching T.V. too much. I imagine that even here in the states there is probably all kinds of news about it...*sigh*...It reminded me of New Orleans just a short time ago, seeing the people sitting on top of their roofs!...I have to go look for the news now. Thanks for letting us know. :-(
Poetess, I didn't mean for you to cry :'( but I know how you feel though. I get all teary eyed watching the news on TV but I still sit there and watch it. Its almost like I can't turn away.
I worry about all the friends I have made online who live in Queensland. A lot of them I know are safe but there are one or two that I haven't heard from.
I heard that 75% of Queensland has been affected. I also heard that in comparison to the US that would be an area the size of Texas.
I'll keep sending good thoughts & prayers to those in the flooded areas. I'll also keep my knitting needles going because sure as anything they will need something warm & comforting once the warmer weather is over. They may not think of it now because its summer but the knit4charities women have.
That is incredible! I can't imagine how one even begins the clean up process.
I know what you mean Beverly. I wouldn't know where to start cleaning. I can just imagine how the residents of the flooded areas feel with such a mammoth task before them.
There was some good news on that front though. When the waters began to subside in Queensland there was an army of 7,000 volunteers helping with the clean up. It was amazing to watch the footage on TV.
