Happy 18th Birthday Angus!

Happy Birthday to my baby! I cannot believe that you are 18 years old now. It doesn't feel all that long ago when I took you home from the hospital and an almost 10 lb bruiser!

You have turned into an amazing young man! I am so proud of you!

Napkin Folding

I came across this video the other week about folding napkins to look like Christmas trees. I finally bought some green paper napkins today and had a go at making some myself. Here's how mine turned out. They don't look perfect but they still look good ☺☺

Here's the video.

Thankful Thursday

Here's what I am thankful for this week:
  • Mark arriving home a day early from camping ♥
  • cool weather
  • Mark being able to fix a window wiper on my car that was not behaving itself
  • running water - we were without water for a while on Tuesday. I was in the middle of doing a load of washing when the water was turned off. Gippsland Water was doing some work nearby and had to turn off the mains
  • crocheting - although I have had to take a break for a couple of days due to my hand hurting (o_0)
  • spring time! It's my favourite time of the year ☺
What are you thankful for this week?

Paper Artist

I was checking out the apps on my samsung tablet when I came across one called Paper Artist. I didn't recall purchasing it as I know it's a paid app. It turns out that when my tablet updated to Jellybean 4.2.1 (I think) that the app was included in the update.

Anyway, the app is a whole lot of fun. It makes your photos look like art that you have drawn yourself.

Recipe - Muesli Muffins

I baked this batch of muffins the other day. They were delicious!
I got the recipe last month when I went to my Diabetes Support Group.

Muesli Muffins (makes 12)

1 ½ cups Natural Muesli (I used rolled oats)
1 cup wholemeal self raising flour
1 cup firmly packed grated carrot
1 large green apple, grated
½ cup sultanas
½ pecan nuts
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/3 cup olive oil
1 cup soy milk or low fat dairy milk

Place muesli, sifted flour, carrot, apple, sultanas and pecans into a large bowl. Mix dry ingredients together.

Combine eggs, oil and milk.

Make a well in the dry ingredients. Pour the egg mix into the well and mix gently to combine.

Spoon mixture into a lightly greased muffin tin.

Bake in a moderate oven, 190°C, for 25 minutes.

Finished Crochet Item - Even More Baby Converse

I just love these baby converse bootees. They look so cute and work up so quickly.
I have just finished making a nice royal blue pair. I think I have the hang of making these that I am not following the video this time. So far so good (~_o)

I gave this pair to Brodie's friend Kat on the weekend. It was her baby shower.

Now to work on something else. I downloaded a couple of new patterns from Heather @ Just Crochet. I just love her patterns. I think I might make a start on one of her patterns. If you like her page on Facebook you can also receive some of her freebie patterns.

Remembrance Day 2014

Picture is from Department of Veterans Affairs
One hundred years ago last month the first group of our beloved ANZAC soldiers left our shores to fight in the "great war". Not every one returned home. Those who survived may no longer be with us but all of them are remembered. I just pray that one day there will be no more wars. That peaceful utopia portrayed in Star Trek may come true, who knows. One can dream. Until then those that have served and/or died in service of our country will always be remembered.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

 Lest We Forget

Finished Item: Primary Colours Blanket

I finished this blanket for my niece, Kylie. Well, it's for her partner.
Kylie and I have dubbed the blanket "that crows blanket" because they aren't our football team. I do however like the fact that it's primary colours. Nice and bright.
Anyway .. on to my next project.

Psoriasis Humour

Some of it is a little bit of tongue in cheek humour about psoriasis. You just have to laugh about some of the comments people make. I learned many years ago not to stress out about what people say to you. Hanging on to what everyone says about your disease will just eat you up and cause a whole world of hurt.
I just laugh now. After all laughter is the BEST medicine!!

This is totally me ☺☺ I am FABULOUS!

I wish it was that easy

^^ I think the one above speaks volumes on how we think ^^
I quite often think about that tar one. I still make comments like .. I smell like a freshly laid road... when I use it. It's such a passion killer! To smell like tar, yuck! I often wondered what my husband would think about that smell when I use it but to be honest I don't think he really cares.
