Thankful Thursday

Here's what I am thankful for this week:

• cool changes, especially after a week or more of temperatures in the 30's C (86+ F)
• remembering to make a phone call to my Doctors surgery to get blood test results. My HbA1C (that tests for the average range of blood glucose levels for a 3 month period) and it was 5.8% which is awesome by the way (~_~) I guess I am doing everything right. It's no wonder my GP is always happy with me when he reads my test results. It's a good feeling.
• being able to contact teachers via email to see how Angus is going at school and what's even better is they actually reply!
• reading - it keeps me entertained for hours (~_~)

What's On The Hook - WIP - Crocheted Baby Cardigan

I'm in a crochet mood at the moment. Which isn't a bad thing (~_~)
I'm making some more baby items. This one will be for my girlfriend, Mish. Well more for her future niece or nephew.

A New Photographer In The Family

Brodie took this photo last night. Not bad :)

Brodie has downloaded a new app for his Galaxy Note that allows him to take some very arty photos. Some even look like he has hand-drawn them.

Finished Item - White Knitted Baby Cardigan

I finished this baby cardigan yesterday afternoon. I think I over did things though because last night my right arm was killing me :( At least the cardigan is finished. Now I just need to work out what my next project will be.

Thankful Thursday

Here's what I am thankful for this week:

• For Brodie still going to TAFE today even when he wasn't feeling 100%. He's on his way home early but at least he had a go
• windy weather - it means my washing gets drier much faster
• husbands who phone housing maintenance because it is one of my least favourite things to do. We have a pipe in the bathroom wall that's leaking water into the hallway whenever anyone has a shower. It might be a BIG job (taking walls apart, etc) and not one I am looking forward to
• knitting - it keeps me out of mischief but only until it starts making my arm ache or I lose feelings in my fingers :-/ you gotta love torn shoulder tendons and carpal tunnel (o_0) but hey it would be worse and I am very grateful that it isn't!

WIP - Knitted Baby Sweater

Here's what I am making at the moment. The pattern is called 5 hour baby sweater. I've used this pattern a few times now. I just love how it's made from the yoke down & there is less sewing involved. Anything that involves very little sewing is always great in my book.

Finished item - Knitted Baby Sweater.

I just finished this cute little sweater. I was hoping it would fit a newborn but it looks more like a premmie size. Oh well.

Pretty Flowers

Look what my Visiting Teachers gave me. Two beautiful bouquets of flowers.

Aren't they pretty? 

The card was on behalf of the Moe Ward sisters.

The reason I received them is because I turned another year older this week. 

I am 29 21 umm 29 not telling how old I really am (~_~)

Thankful Thursday

Here's what I am thankful for this week:

• rain! We sure need it. I just hope that it gets to where the fires are still burning. The fires I mentioned a while back are still going. They haven't burnt themselves out yet so rain is the next best option.
• Angus and his persistence. He has been trying very hard to organise his work placement as part of his Building & Construction (Carpentry) course. Even though he has phone over 20 places without success he still keeps on phoning. Today he had some success and now has a meeting/interview to attend tomorrow. Good luck cutie!
• Visiting teachers and the love they bring with them. They also brought me a gift too. Photos of that to come. 

• Competitions. I entered a competition over the Australia Day weekend. It was part of a celebrations for Australian authors. I entered at Kate Forsyth's blog. She along with Traci Harding are my absolute favourite Australian writers. Any way I won one of Kate's books. To enter we had to state what book we would like to win and why. I chose one called Bitter Greens. It arrived today. I can't wait to get stuck into it (~_~)

Short Film - Voice Over

Mark shared this short film with me & I had to share it. 

It's in french but there are subtitles. It goes for about 8 minutes in total.
I think it's well done and not at all what I expected.

I finally finished making the little cardi/jacket this afternoon.

I don't know why but I truly dislike sewing in ends and adding buttons. I have no idea where it's going yet but at least it's finished

Op Shopping Bargains

Before being cleaned

Mark & I went Op Shopping on Thursday morning (as well as the day before but in a different town). In one of the places I spotted a magazine rack. It was in excellent condition and just needed a clean. I showed Mark but then I said that I don't really need it as we already have places for magazines. Mark then stated that it would look great with lots of yarn in it. SOLD! He's such an enabler ♥♥

Mark found a working digital camera for $5. He said it would be great for when he is working on the bike and he can take photos so that he doesn't get his phone dirty.

All that black stuff in the photo is electrical tape. He was very happy with that find. It's a name brand of some kind and extremely sticky. It's good that he found it because he couldn't find his black tape the other day when he was working on something. Now Mark has plenty. 

Ready to go ...

I must admit the magazine rack does look good now that it's all cleaned up and filled with yarn.

Thankful Thursday

Here's what I am thankful for this week: 

• Finding bargains when you go Op Shopping
• Children who go back to school (~_~) - Brodie started back at the GETT Centre this week. So dar he's only going for two days a week but it gets him out of the house, off Facebook and he is learning something that will help him for when he eventually gets kicked moves out of home.
• that Brodie was very happy about going to TAFE. He was thrilled with class yesterday as he got to do some cooking. That kid just loves his food!
• air-conditioners - we've had a couple of hot days recently (which I detest) but the air-con and the fan has helped a little.
• that no new bills have arrived this week *phew*

Trendy Baby Yarn Colours?

I went into my local yarn shop this morning and asked what are the trendy colours used for babies right now. The lady suggested a few colours but I settled on these two. I'll be making something for my g/f Mish. Her sister is having a bubz in a few months. No one knows what the sex is as they want it to be a surprise. This green and grey should suit either boy or girl, right? I'll be starting on something as soon as I finish my current project. The one that's friends with a turtle & going slow 'n' steady.

I'm working on the edging and then I'll work on the sleeves.

Ooo He Was Sneaky ..

Mark was very sneaky this morning and took a photo of me at the desk. It almost looks like he drew it though. He used a app on his tablet called Paper Camera. It's also available for iphone. I have to admit it's not a bad shot really.

When Boredom Hits You Never Know What Will Happen

Brodie was a bit bored this morning so he started telling me all these (in his words) lame jokes.  Some of them were really good.

• Did you hear about the guy who got hit in the head with a can of soda? He was lucky it was a soft drink. 
• I’m glad I know sign language. It’s pretty handy.
• There was a big paddle sale at the boat store. It was quite an oar deal.
• I used to be addicted to soap, but I'm clean now.
• Greengrocers earn a meager celery, come home beet and just want to read the pepper, take a leek, turnip the covers endive into bed.
• I haven't the faintest idea why I passed out.
